Evangelical broadcaster James Dobson Wednesday praised Ted Cruz's bid for the Republican presidential nomination, saying in a new television ad that the Texas senator is critical to naming more conservatives to the Supreme Court. "With Justice Scalia's death, we need a president who will defend the Constitution and nominate conservatives to the high court," Dobson, founder of Focus on the Family, said in endorsing Cruz as a private citizen.
"I know Ted," Dobson said. "He's a Christian family man of the utmost integrity."

Absolutely.
Good to know. Thanks.
Not all evangelicals are into radio and TV preachers. I think only are fairly minority are, and many are put off by them.
A toss up whether this is any benefit for Cruz.
An endorsement from Dobson is nothing about guilt and shame. Why are you using this guilty by association tactic yourself? You and I both know there are charlatans out there. Maybe Cruz is a charlatan. What you don’t seem to know is that Dobson is no charlatan.
Thanks for the thoughtful post. I actually agree with pretty much all of it. I absolutely think that you can support Trump and still be a Christian. I would argue that you are making a mistake and that you will be disappointed with him if he is elected but that is all.
I agree that every human being including you, me, Dr. Dobson, Cruz, and Trump are flawed and far from perfect. I just think that Dr. Dobson is a man of integrity and I hated the way that some fanatical Trump supporters were comparing him to fake televangelists.
Tell me why anyone listens to these religious nut jobs???????
“People donât like the idea of clergy telling them whom they should and should not vote for in order to be in good standing with God.”
And you derived “ghost of âcontent neutralityâ justices”.
Ok...
This election matters for the freedom of religion.
You obviously have no idea who Dr. Dobson is and are simply showing off your hate of Christians.

Uhuh.
How’s that work in light of what C.S. Lewis called “The poison of subjectivism”?

Oh i know all about JD and FOTF... just another holy roller begging for cash... thats really all it comes down to.
and thats precisely why i dont like them...
“An endorsement from Dobson is nothing about guilt and shame. “
I didn’t say him personally.
But it is obvious how these are being used by associates and supporters of Cruz. This isn’t a secret.
Like others here, I would point out that prominent religious leaders have also endorsed Trump. So it appears the argument here is not about Cruz vs. Trump. It concerns the legitimacy of religion in politics. Content neutrality has the idea that religion can be scrubbed from politics. In the same way, for example, Obama has been successful in claiming all economic activity for its “content neutral” domain and denied religious freedom to its citizen participants.
You are a bunch of hypocrites. You chastise Trump supporters yet you throw your own blasphemy around and mock Trump’s supporters as some believing Trump is some kind of messiah.
I don’t see any outrage from any of you with the below comments:

Dr. Dobson has a great deal of pull with the Christian Community.......as do the many Christian leaders rallying for Cruz and forming coalitions across the nation....
And the.. ‘Vets for Ted’.... currently has an astounding 23,471 coalition members nationwide!!!!
We never asked, and it's not about them. You must be on the wrong thread.
Dr. Dobson has a spotless record in evangelical circles. You seem to have a hatred for Christians.
Dobson has never been a televangelist. As you know, I am a Trump supporter. There is nothing to be gained by misrepresenting the man. His radio program dealt with marriage, family, counseling, and Christ's place in all of that.
He is as far from Benny Hinn as Cruz is from Clinton. To say otherwise is simple ignorance on display.
well he certainly has a large enough net worth to prove it!
But hey as long as the tears flow on cue who cares!
