I'm trying to understand FR's embrace of the Donald, but I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around this one. I too had a favorable first reaction when I heard him talking about building the wall in absolute terms, and his rejection of the concept of amnesty for illegal aliens. I also admired that he was the first politician in a long time that would fight back against the media and left-wing attacks, instead of trying to appease the left. However, that admiration quickly wore off when I researched Trump and found clip after clip of the man, in his own words embracing every liberal talking point in the book. Planned Parenthood, gay marriage, abortion, government health care, protectionist trade policies, increasing taxes on businesses and the most productive. Of course, the man has taken the opposite positions on most of these two. Sometimes he will take both sides of an issue in the same discussion. Also, his "I'm awesome at___________" is wearing a bit thin. I want to hear what you plan to do, not how great you are. Then there is his child like temper, calling anyone he doesn't agree with , Liar, Pu@@Y or worse. Just seems kind of juvenile. The personality quirks I could live with, but a man who praises Nancy Pelosi, John Kerry and Hillary Clinton is another thing. And perhaps most important of all, he has said that his uber liberal sister would be a great Supreme Court Justice. Other than being a recent convert on Immigration this man has no conservative bona fides and yet have of FR acts like you would expect this board to react if Ronald Regan had returned. I just don't get it. If Bernie Sanders starts lobbying for the fair tax and runs for President on the GOP ticket would the Trumpets start feeling the Bern.
Immigration, right now, is the most fundamental issue of our time. Get this one wrong and nothing else matters.
Donald Trump is the disaffected white man's Obama. Whatever you're angry about, he'll fix for you. Hate lying politicians? He'll smash'em up. Job outsourced? Trump'll bring it back. Illegal mexicans? He'll build the wall. And so forth. It's magic thinking.
Remember in 2008 how some blacks really thought Obama would get their mortgage paid? Well this time some whites really think Trump is going to go beat up China and get their jobs back.
Ouch! I can see where you may not have understood my point. I actually agree with you. I'll explain later. Have something I need to attend to now. :-)
When he donated to McConnell and then tweeted that the people of Kentucky would be foolish not to re-elect him becUse he can bring more money to the state, that tells me a lot about him. I would prefer the overloaded federal government not extort money from citizens and then hand it out in exchange for doing as it says. I don’t recall that being in the constitution.
Wipe the oatmeal from your chin Grampa.
You know what, he makes it look fun. He makes it look fun to beat down these imbeciles. Oh, what I wouldn’t give for a personality like that. Winning baby. You’re gonna LIKE IT.
Are you for real or did you forget the sarcasm tag?
“But analyzing what he says, do you really think that deporting 11 million illegals will magically create high paying jobs for Americans? “
USA has had 50 years of open borders and 45+ years of “free trade”.
It’s not working and it is time to try something else.
I don’t know for sure that Trump will act on those issues, but I do know for sure that the others won’t.
“A flat 16%” tax on business.
So when I bring in a piece of metal, machine it into something else, and then resell it, I pay 16% on that. The supplier paid 16% on his sale to me. How many times are you going to tax that piece of metal?? Does it matter that it cost me a certain amount to do that, or where the costs associated with that value increase are?
No. Flat 16%. No IRS, so no deductions or depreciation for equipment. Why will I buy new equipment if I can’t depreciate it? I won’t. I’ll use it until it no longer works. The folks who make equipment will see a huge reduction in sales.
I read his tax plan. It is written for consumers and not business. Because to politicians, it’s only about consumers because consumers are voters. Typical politician who has never owned a business. They don’t understand that businesses are the employers.
That tax plan has LIV written all over it.
Correct summation.
Trump has shown that he can Trump can be swayed by a "valid argument" even though that argument may not be true. For me, it appears Trump places more importance on the "deal" (solution) than the value (principal) of an issue.
But then, I agree with Sarah and many others . . . its about winning the White House.
Cruz had a 67% second choice rating in the poll that Trump had only 27%.
Cruz had a 34% disapproval rating in the poll that Trump had a 67%.
I base my assessment on those numbers.
Wow, I remember that poll. From August?
Don't click the link Sir.
Understood. I fear Trump is in fact “lying now”.
I thought the auto bailout was appalling, hundreds of years of business and bankruptcy law out the door. Payoff for union donors to democrats, which was about all the stimulus was.
However, the post I responded to ... if you don't think someone who can only post 'Trumpsters are losers' actually is HIMSELF a loser, then I can't help you. Sometimes I choose to ignore them. About one in every ten, I choose to fire at.
I guess I haven’t heard him talk about currency manipulation as much as tariffs, but that is good that he does. Romney used to talk about it but I guess he didn’t use the right tone for people.
No, that she is an immigrant and has no right to come here and them what do with their flag and how much the Confederate flag means to them.... and how they showed her and will vote her out office first chance that they get.
Haley is an Insider. She was never a TeaParty candidate.
