I just read that article about the snakes - one thing they got right, most people don’t like snakes!

Are they hoping the snakes will control the population of leftists?

Amherst is about a 10-15 minute trip, and you can just smell the unctuous neohippy commie stink as you approach.
My worry would be that the snakes would interbreed with the leftists, yielding a passel of forked-tounged hybrids

Reminds me... my daughter took her husband up to Ithaca this past weekend. I asked him how he liked it and he said it was beautiful but that it reminded him of Berkeley, CA. And not in a good way.
