During the Feb. 6 Republican debate, Trump pledged that he would support waterboarding and would "bring back a hell of a lot worse." Last November, Trump told an audience in Columbus, Ohio, that waterboarding works. "Believe me, it works. And you know what? If it doesn't work, they deserve it anyway, for what they're doing. It works."
Hayden disputed that notion Monday, saying, "We never did anything to anyone because they deserved it."
"This was never looking backward. This was trying to keep Americans safe looking forward. People can argue about what we did, but it was never, never a form of punishment," he said.
Asked whether Cruz's frequent calls to "carpet-bomb ISIS into oblivion" would be feasible, Hayden was firm.
"No, and it would be immoral"

Cruz clearly said in the debate that waterboarding is enhanced interrogation, not torture. He said maybe torture could be used at highest level in some imminent danger. He also said he would listen to the military on the fight with ISIS and not nation build.

Let’s clarify one thing: It’s a total urban myth that torture doesn’t work; it works quite well. Ask anyone who was in the Hanoi Hilton. COL Leroy Stutz, a POW in Vietnam for over six years, was the commandant of my SERE class. He told us - and I paraphrase - “..you’ll break, we all did.”
So what did he say about Hillary and selling national security secrets?
I don’t understand the point of your question. What difference, at this point, does it make? She should be serving a life sentence for the email server setup alone.
