Why would Mitt Romney go on national television and declare, "I think we have good reason to believe that there's a bombshell in Donald Trump's taxes. Either he's not anywhere near as wealthy as he says he is, or he hasn't been paying the kind of taxes we would expect him to pay"? Since when does buttoned-down, white-bread Mitt Romney make audacious, provocative accusations? Romney's accusation might be a safe bet â if not to be verified, then to never be refuted. Just a few years ago, Trump refused to release un-redacted tax returns, even when it could help him win a $5 billion libel lawsuit against a New York Times reporter and author. If Trump was unwilling to release his returns in that circumstance, how likely is it that Trump will release them before Election Day? Just for your info, tax returns have 0 to do w/ someone's net worth. I have already filed my financial statements w/ FEC. They are great! â Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) February 25, 2016 Trump's wealth is a key part of his public image, his status in the eyes of his fans, and his self-image. On July 15, Trump issued a statement declaring, "As of this date, Mr. Trump's net worth is in excess of TEN BILLION DOLLARS." (Capital letters in original.)

That means absolutely nothing. Flashing a fancy lifestyle means nothing. Ask rapper Kayne West who at last report was $53M in debt.
Gasparino was on Cavuto tonight and claims that Michael Bloomberg is interested In running as Hillary’s VP. Gasparino said it is not just talk that there is a real possibility. He then said, Bloomberg is worth 38 BILLION REAL dollars and said it would be a formidable war chest, unlike Trump who is not as “liquid.” (Paraphrased)
I see support for Trump as more of a Faustian pact. Trump tells voters what he thinks they want to hear. They believe him even though most of them know he’s betrayed almost everyone in his life. And because they so want to believe him, he must be the one they’ve been waiting for. He will probably write a book about how he bamboozled Americans into electing him, like the book where he brags about adultery. I think we need to accept that former conservatives are now a part of the same political hypocrisy as the left has been for many years. Namely, the left would never turn on Clintons because of their support for abortion even if they knew he’d perjured himself. Now, the right won’t turn on Trump because he’s promising a wall and to make America Great Again - details are of no concern. The old ideas that words mattered, that character mattered, that adultery mattered, and that experience mattered are all passé. Only fuddy duddies worry about truth telling now. The new Trump style conservative embraces situational ethics. He supports the destruction of the GOP even more than the Democrats. There is no such thing as contradiction because the only thing that matters is what Trump tells them.
“One interesting fact that I saw on a documentary was that Trump actively used to bug Forbes to death to try to get his standing in the Forbes “wealthiest list” raised.”
They talk about that in the article.
It looks like $150-300 million, which is nice, but piss poor financial management of $400,000,000. It should be closer to $13,000,000.
No, a tax return will not establish net worth. Neither does the financial disclosure returns of the election rules.
So how will his net worth be determined?
Unless, of course, you and everybody else is lying and pulling Alinsky tactics like your idol Mitt Romney.
Personally, I don’t care if he has two million or two billion. But I’ll be damned if I’ll listen to the GOPe and you about this particular candidate.
BTW, rumor has it you put your dog on the roof of your car when you go on vacation. True or not?
“He could have a whole pile of money sitting somewhere offshore that is non-taxable and not required to be reported.”
or not.
IRS tax filings deal only with income and expenses for the year they’re filed in (except long-term depreciation, capital loss carry-forwards and the like), NOT net worth. Trump could be a billionaire many times over and not have much income during a particular year, so IRS filings for that year wouldn’t tell you very much.
net worth can be seen only for public corporations that file with the FEC, and Trump’s enterprises are privately held.
I have read that also.
For all his wheeling and dealing the Donald did not increase his wealth that much ... he may have lost money.
But he had to take time out for all the affairs.
Then why did you post a picture of Trump with that liar less than an hour ago?
“National Review is going to be spitting out this crap until November. Better get used to it.”
Yep. The globalist self-styled “true conservatives” at NR are now a de-facto adjunct to the Hillary campaign.
Income taxes report income; not net wealth.
He wants Clinton to win.... just for spite!
Can’t argue with a man that is right.
Any day Romney will ask that Hillary submit her taxes ... and the accounting for the Clinton Foundation. Right?
