Running scared from a debate hosted by Megyn Kelly in Iowa, Donald Trump instead hosted an Iowa event to, according to his campaign, "raise money for the Veterans and Wounded Warriors, who have been treated so horribly by our all talk, no action politicians." The $6 million raised went, curiously, straight to Donald Trump's campaign website -- an odd way to fundraise. That money, equally curiously, has yet to find its way to veterans' groups.
When Donald Trump demanded a $5 million ransom from CNN to appear in their December debate, he also used veterans as a foil. Trump claimed he would donate proceeds to wounded warriors. His interest in veterans is sudden. Forbes reported that of the $5.5 million the Donald J. Trump Foundation gave to charity, "only $57,000 has been donated to seven organizations that directly benefit military veterans or their families."
That's the rough equivalent of a Ford Expedition. It's a weak showing for a billionaire who claims to be the champion of America's service members.
The fact is, Trump hasn't done a damn thing for veterans. America's veterans aren't dopes. Most recognize a cheap political stunt when they see it. Debates scare Trump silly. So he wears veterans' service like Kevlar, hoping the nobility of their sacrifice can shield him from the hostility of tough questions. It's not unexpected behavior from a man who, to judge from his multiple draft deferments, has proven more than happy to let others do the fighting for him.
The fact is, Trump hasn't done a damn thing for veterans. But put that aside for a moment.

I'll put you down in the "supports John Noonan's lying yellow journalism because it damages Trump" column.
John Noonan - NR Writer
How is pointing out facts "smearing"? Is that the same as anything negative about Trump being a "lie"?
You wrote in post #38:
...and his foundation only gives $57k over a period of 5 years (a little over $11K per year)?
I see that you didn't correct your post to include the $25,000 to Marine Sergeant Tahmooressi.
But you're not here to provide facts, are you, CA Conservative?
You posted the $57,000 lie, I posted the information about Marine Sergeant Tahmooressi, you belittled the amount - but didn't correct your previous post.
You seeing a pattern with your posts? :)
I am - and so is anyone else who isn't drunk on CruzLade.
The pattern isn't pretty.
Well, since you DELIBERATELY didn't update the $57,000 lie, it's not a fact, is it?
Which makes it a smear. :)
My post mentioned the Foundation. You brought up something he apparently did on his own. Nice, but even adding BOTH numbers together, you still wind up with a very small number given to veterans in relation to his wealth.
You posted the $57,000 lie
Where is the lie? This is publicly available information, so how can it be a lie? Just because you don't like it?
What lie??? Provide documentation showing the Trump Foundation contributed more than $57K to veterans organizations prior to him starting his run for president. Typical Trumpkin - anyone questioning Trump on his fake claims must be a “liar”.
FreeRepublic has become the right side of the political aisle cesspool that now rivals the DemocraticUndergound..........Unbelievable.......
This whole thread is nothing but a yellow journalism lie.
Like posting a photoshopped picture of Jeb picking his nose. You have NO high ground.
Well, maybe in The Land of the Low Information Low Intellect cruz-bot...
Are you done catching spears yet?
Notice that there are VERY few other Cruz people around on this thread defending this yellow journalism.
You DO realize this article by John Noonan is a complete lie and fabrication, don't you?
As far as I’m concerned, he’s in all this for one reason, and one reason only: ego.
Or are you still working out the details?
Agreed, not here to ‘defend’, but I thought the article/issue relates to “[hasn’t given that $6 million to vet groups yet]”?
MILLIONS, NOT some nefarious 50k-odd...
May I suggest going back to school for a remedial reading course??? I clearly said several times, that the $57k was the donations from the Foundation. But you had to emulate your messiah and yell "LIAR" the minute something unflattering to the Don was uttered, without stopping to actually read what was written.
And even adding the $25k you mention, that is still less than $80k over a 5 year period - $20k per year for a man who claims to be worth $10 B, and CLAIMS to be very committed to supporting veterans and wounded warriors. That would be like us dropping a few bucks in the Salvation Army bucket at Christmas and then claiming that we are REALLY committed to helping the poor.
This article is a complete and utter lie.
I know you're a Cruz man, Ern - but are you the kind of Cruz man that supports lying yellow journalism?
Because you apparently failed.
Clintonian parsing ain't going to bail you out of your hole.
It just makes you look like more of a yellow journalist.
