As best I have been able to summarize from this brouhaha: we have an ambiguous situation because the term NBC, which actually was present in statute at the time the Constitution was ratified, is now an orphan term, not used in any statute. This leaves it up to the tea leaf readers what it might mean. Most have taken it to mean born in US of citizens. But now there have been challenges around the edges, challenges which we could make a cogent case are unseemly.

I don't understand how so many rock-ribbed conservatives can support an obvious flimflam man whose positions seem to change almost day-by-day and will undeniably change even more if he's nominated.

They're angry. And rightly so. They're so blinded by their anger that they don't realize Trump[ is everything they're angry at.

Besides, he's running on generalities and platitudes. So, like 0bama, he becomes in the minds of his supporters whatever they want him to be. But he's not that. Boy, will they be disappointed!

I don't understand how so many people who say they only care about illegal immigration can support a guy who was pushing amnesty three years ago and is in favor of citizenship for illegal aliens now when a stronger candidate on illegal immigration, Ted Cruz, is in the race.

Well, he's going to build a wall (something Ted Cruz was advocating long before Donald Trump got in the race.)

So it really doesn't matter that his immigration plan is essentially touchback amnesty. He'll show those Mexiclowns who's boss.

I don't understand how so many fundamentally decent people who were furious at Bill Clinton for degrading the presidency can back a man who mocks the disabled, lies as often as both of the Clintons put together, brags about sleeping with married women and who said, "it really doesn't matter what they write as long as you've got a young and beautiful piece of ass."

Well, he may be crude, rude, and lewd, but he's our crude, rude, and lewd.

Besides, they think that his targets deserve it. Even if they get dehumanized. (Hey, cool!)
