It’s tough to play Danny Boy on pipes. The first part is in the scale. Second part no. It ends at the high A.

I believe it. It’s tough to play the pipes, period. That’s why I simulate them - I have been blessed with a piper’s love of the instrument, but not with a piper’s hands.
BTW, couldn’t a Brian Boru bagpipe play the song as written?
