What'll happen at a brokered convention. (your predictions)

Posted on 03/18/2016 6:35:33 AM PDT by MNDude

If the GOP nominee goes to a brokered convention, what do you predict will happen? Who will they pick as the nominee? How will the Trump voters respond?

Unless Cruz has majority delegate wins in 8 states by the time of the convention he won’t even get on the ballot.

If the party inserts anyone but Trump, who is winning the primary by quite large margins, they will lose Trump voters in the general election and hand Hildebeast the nomination.

I predict that the GOPe will select Ted Cruz as the nominee-—not because they like him, but rather they know that that would be the end of Ted Cruz’s political career. Ted Cruz would become the most loathed person in the Republican party in history and would of course lose by the largest landslide every.

There would be intense fighting, not between just the GOPe and those against the establishment. It would be huge fighting between those who are against the establishment, thus a huge win for the establishment.

Trump will be the nominee and the GOPe will fall in line.

I hope it doesn’t happen at all. All these GOPe idiots running their mouths right now is not helping matters. Trump is such a wild card that I am scared to death of him. I’m really hoping that MOST of his actions and speeches are an outrageous act. I am not at all certain of that.

There are 2 scenarios:

1) Trump has the 1,237 that he needs, and all of the drama ends in early June; or

2) He doesn’t, but cuts a deal with someone to put him over the top well before the convention.

Trump is a deal-maker. If he can’t get or do what he wants by himself, he finds a partner. That’s what these pols don’t get, because they generally play a zero-sum game - you win or you lose, there’s nothing in between. Well, business doesn’t work that way, so neither does Trump.

Trump, for all of his rough edges (at least in public, I very deeply believe that he is a different person behind closed doors, both in business and at home) will end up being one of our greatest Presidents. Why? He understands, like Reagan, that the government is not the solution to our problems, it IS the problem. He knows what the private sector can do if unleashed, and he aims to remove the leash and make the economy boom. When that happens, many problems either disappear or become manageable.

Trump plays chess while everyone else plays tiddly winks. He’s got it mapped out already - he either wins on his own (which I think will happen), or he cuts a deal and is the nominee anyway.

" I suspect a floor fight among the Romney faction and the Trump factions.

Unfortunately, Ted Cruz will have little say in what happens in that floor fight. He will be romanced by Romney and will be betrayed by Romney in the end once his usefulness has been drained.

^^^ I'm inclined to think kinda like what you just said right here.

I won't be surprised to see you proven right about Cruz being played, and to see Milt Romley accepting the nomination, with beaming smile and perfect hair, with a little thought balloon in the picture with himself as the fulfillment of the white horse prophecy...

Only to be thrashed in possibly a 49-state blowout in November. Needless to say I hope we're both wrong.

Trump will have the delegates needed....but if for the sake of fantasy let's say he does not....

The situation is so dangerous at this point it will be a national disaster. There will be a call for Trump supporters to come from all over the nation to make a show of force outside the convention. At some point the powers that be will realize how dangerous this is with the usual massive communist protest crowds and now mix in BLM and illegals.... Really think that one through, the other side is going to show up in a huge dangerous gathering. It is a war waiting to happen. There will be blood in the streets.

Trump and Cruz will make a deal and pool their votes for the second round and will announce that before the convention...It will be the only way to keep some of this disaster from happening. The leadership finally getting a clue as to what is about to happen will jump on the happy wagon in hopes of surviving this convention and getting to see their families again.

It is still going to be very ugly and dangerous convention with the nasty left, BLM and illegals showing up in mass....and Trump supporters and even maybe a few Cruz people going to defend.

We hope not. It could be avoided by trump and Cruz getting together

“Trump, Cruz, and whoever need to settle things before the convention.”

I believe that this has already been done. It is already baked into the cake that Cruz cannot win 1,237, not after losing the South that he had planned to win massively on Super Tuesday. Trump will get about 1,300 IMHO, and not need anyone else. But they have a deal, count on it. Neither of them is going to allow the GOPe to keep running things - they both care too much about this country to allow things to continue sliding down the slippery slope.

Know also that Trump has a Plan B and a Plan C - he’s nobody’s fool, and he knows how pols can turn around and stab you in the back while smiling at you.

Get used to President Trump.

I agree. Trump will get around 70~80% of the votes.
