Airbag Recall

We received a recall letter on our 2009 Honda CRV. It appears that the vehicle has the defective air bag that has been in the news that if it activates, crap can fly out and kill the driver. The dealer will not have the replacement until summer. They provided us with a loaner vehicle to use until that time at no charge.

Did you have to call in to reserve the replacement parts or will they just notify you when the parts come in. I own the car, so paying for a rental for that amount of time, seems...weird.

Got the same notice for our 2011 CRV, they gave you another car till the summer at no cost? The letter said further down that if we had any concerns with safety to give them a call, which we did.

I had mine replaced n my 2007 Accord last year. I do not drive very much since I have been sick so it has less than 22,000 miles on it. : ). Sorry you are having trouble.

We've got a 2010 CRV and just two days ago got the Takata igniter recall notice....we're very low mileage on that car, since it's what wifey drives -- which is often 10 miles per week, on her roundtrip to church -- so we plan on waiting the 10 months or so until the oil quality light at least hits 90 percent!
But.....if we get the itch for a cross country roadtrip *, I'll call the dealer and "demand" a loaner.....so we can 'maintain our safe space'.....
*The CRV is our road car, and itsy bitsy Toyota Yaris is our everyday 'round-town car.

Got the same recall for my 2001 Civic 6 months ago but they had the replacement part in stock and fixed it in half an hour.
