Researchers who studied people who sell items on eBay (EBAY) turned up a surprising result: Women sellers get 80 cents on the dollar compared to men, according to a new study published in Science Magazine.
The researchers assessed over 1 million auctions from 2009 to 2012 and found that women sellers get fewer bids and lower final prices than men -- for the same products. The gender bias was greatest for new products. In fact, it nearly disappeared for used items -- women make 97 cents for every dollar a man does.
The researchers said the lower gap seen with used products might be due to buyers unknowingly trusting women to give more accurate product descriptions.

Does this mean women sellers on EBay get paid less than they agree to sell their items for?
How do you know when buying? Is this a real study or a made up group with a fax # and Gmail account?

I buy and sell on eBay ALL the time. It has never occurred to me to look for clues as to gender.
If one makes a big long list of what women are selling, and a big long list of what men are selling, that will explain everything.

I guess you might figure it out by looking at the seller ID, like MadisonsMom45 or KarenJones1234 but looking at ABCInc or XYZLLC does not help you there
same here. I suspect it is because women are more likely to come down on their price because they want to make the sale, and men stick closer to their asking price. But generally, yeah, I have no idea if I’m buying from a man or woman.
So if a man sells auto parts that costs more than hair bows he’s somehow getting paid more? Where do the leftists get this crap. Their platform is quickly evaporating because people are getting so tired of hearing their whining and false claims / lies.

It all depends on what you sell, how much you sell, and what the profit margin is.
I sell on ebay. You work hard and have good business sense you make more money.
Has nothing to do with gender.
Since EBay is gender blind, this is proof that men are better marketers or ad writers or price setters. It certainly does not prove gender bias.
IF this is true, then I suspect gals are selling frou-frou items, trinkets, gadgets, knick-knacks, and other doo-dads as opposed to men selling stuff people actually want and need.
