What you describe is a result if nurture, not nature and has effectively been “bred out” through generations of welfare. Young people in these families have never known anyone with a job. But they know all about ingestion.

So here’s what I was wondering about:

Given that no one likes or wants the choke hold we feel wrt current gov’t corruption, and no one wants violent revolution to restore our country back to its cherished foundations; how would you evaluate the effectiveness of 100% of the population utilizing the welfare system as a “restorative tool”?

Am I wrong to speculate that the system would collapse given the absence of producers? I wonder what would the rulers would do the?

I also thought that we don’t really have to do anything because it will collapse on its own, eventually.

What do ya’ll think?

I work my tail off so that I don’t have to live any where near leeches such as her, and am able to keep interactions with them to a bare minimum. That is what working is worth to me. My family self-segregates as much as possible.

Unfortunately, this mindset no longer exists in America. This is the “it’s all about me” generation.

Rational doesn’t mean it is automatically morally good.

I’m actually not sure whether or not the Leftists are so deluded they would try to have 100% of the population subsisting on welfare, or if they are evil and would try to enslave productive people in the interests of appealing to the low-IQ masses (similar to the plot in Atlas Shrugged). The former situation would obviously lead to a collapse in the system, while the latter situation could potentially subsist forever depending on technology and the ability of the intelligent to organize.

I do know that we need to stop the Leftists from getting anywhere near creating either of these dystopias, and that we should be willing to do so by any means necessary.

Good post. Somebody could offer me twice my current salary (and it's not insignificant) to sit at home and not work - and I wouldn't take it.

It is true that work confers dignity and self-worth on a person. Unfortunately many people know nothing but welfare so they will never know what it is like to be a contributing member of society. People on welfare tend to be unhappy and miserable people.

Wait. Didn’t Nancy Pelosi insist they had already cut the budget to the bone and couldn’t cut any more? Right.

Has there EVER been an audit done on federal giveaway ... sorry, “assistance” ... programs? These “entitlements” are the biggest item in the federal budget but receive the least scrutiny. I’ve heard some of these “queens” collect from more than one state. Does anybody check?

Of course, once you show me where the Constitution authorizes such largess through Uncle Sugar’s credit card, I’ll gladly shut up.

I used to agree with most of you here. Now I tell people to sign up for anything they can get their hands on.

Break the system. Now.

Again, I think this issue about the dignity of work is so closely tied to the human make up that sociological factors cannot influence it.

Merely being dependent on welfare does not change the inherent human desire to be a part of the society and contribute to it.

This is what makes these folks unhappy. They recognize that they're failing to meet one of their basic human roles and functions in life.

This woman's suggestion that it's "stupid" to work is a reflection of her inability to be who she is supposed to be. It's unacceptable to her and she reacts cynically and lashes out against those who are succeeding.

She recognizes what an abject failure she is but can't come to admit it.
