Looks like another “visiting team” series. The Sharks won both games in STL, and STL won the game in SJ.

Well, it's clear from game 1 that the Bolts are not the Caps.

No Stamkos
No Stralman
No Brown
No Bishop
And Johnson at 50%

And they still win 3-1. I don't know how all of these injuries will play out in a 7 game series but this is a damn good team.

The boarding call on the Malkin hit is about as ticky tack as it can get in hockey. I wish the refs (and the league) would just let them play. It was a sloppy game for the most part, and after watching the Sharks game last night, I think both the Pens and Bolts will get crushed if the Sharks match that intensity for a full series. That was one incredible game. Even so......

GO BOLTS!!!!!!

Be the thunder.

The Bolts looking even better now. It sure is quiet in here.

One game does not a series make.

The Pens looked tired compared to the Bolts, and not nearly as crisp.

I suspect you will see a different game Monday night.

That being said, Tampa did look very good.

Now, imagine the Pens without their top scorer, without their #1 defenseman, and without their #1 goalie - who is one of the best in the NHL - winning the opening game of the series away from home and by 3-1.

Both teams looked slow and not as sharp as they were in the previous series. I agree that game 2 will be very different for both teams.

You should have heard it in front of Amalie last night watching it from the big screen. :>)

I was at that game. You are right the Pens looked tired. Also some problems with the way the lines are structured were exposed. Even with that the Pens can play better. I noticed how much Cooper was able to get Hedman out against the Kessel line.

Unfortunately I can’t be at tomorrows game because of travel. Fortunately I have the NBCSN app on my phone and will stream the game to my hotel room TV. I love technology.

Crosby’s first OT goal in 113 playoff games!

Amazing....

Couldn’t have come at a better time!

5 Keys: Penguins at Lightning, Game 3

Game 2 saw the two teams reverse roles. The keys for game 3 are:

1. Bolts have to stay on their skates and stop cleaning the ice with their butts.

2. The Bolts need to be realize that forechecking, especially in the neutral zone, is a good thing and that it's one of the reasons they were outplayed in game 2.

3. Bolts need to crash the net like the Pens did in game 2 and keep the pressure on Murray.

4. Bolts need to pass like they did in game one. Game 2 was about as sloppy as it gets.

5. Avoid penalties. It's tough enough stopping the Pens offense when it's 5 on 5.

That said, the Bolts had more than enough chances to steal that second game and go up 2-0. But, having watched the Stanley Cup playoffs since I was in single digits, I'm happy with a split away. Game 3 will tell us where the series is headed. It's always a good barometer.

Good synopsis. I do think the Bolts will do it. Seeing the Sharks winning too, but I have been wrong before. See my bracket. Lol.

I've watched a lot of Sharks games this playoff season and they remain the mystery team of the NHL. In the last game of the series against Nashville, they looked like one of the best teams in history. In the first game against St. Louis, I couldn't believe it was the same team. Game 2 was a completely different story again. They have incredible speed and the best power play in recent history.......when they're on.

Which team will show up tomorrow night?

Good point, Sharks won the first two against the Predators, who would have thought that would be (the one?) series to go Seven games among those others.

Thanks to Airborne for the ping and all others here for the conversation.

Other than 1-2 games, they’ve been the fastest team on the ice. Now personally I have grown to “hate” the Sharks traditionally, as we (any of my fave teams) always have to fight them. But I have to give them credit. They are doing it.

So far it seems like we have two good contests going on right now.

“This time out is by Gatorade.” Sheesh. Every moment of every game needs a sponsor? How does this help Gatorade sales?

Ahmmmm, yes the Bolts fizzled last night while playing mostly D on the blue end of the ice. According to latest estimates, neither Stamkos nor Bishop will play in game 4, so the rest of the team needs to step it up for a return to the Pens’ rink tied at 2.
