Vanity-If delegates choose our Nominee then voters should darn well get to vote for the delegates.

Posted on 04/18/2016 9:55:53 AM PDT by Cats Pajamas

If we can't pick our nominee then we should get the chance to vote for delegates. The RNC/GOP should not be able to wine/dine and cherry pick delegates.

THIS NASTINESS IS NOT A REPRESENTATIVE REPUBLIC. IT IS CHERRY-PICKED AND GERRY-MANDERED ON BOTH SIDES.

Democrat and Republican are just made up words to give us the appearance we have a choice.

D.C. is an elite club and we ain't in it!!!!!

Trust me, I’ll make up for both of us if need be.

Not leaving YOUR grandchildren with this mess either.

Been recovering 10 years from injury issues. Healed as good as it’s gonna get, but who knows if i’ll be able to fight for the country in five or 10 years.

I’m not waiting to find out.

Rather go down swinging while I still can.

And I can swing pretty hard.

“The GOP is a private organization. They can pull names from a hat if they want.”
_____________

Here’s what the GOP national rules say about how the party (including the state and local arms thereof) are supposed to be run:

“PREAMBLE
...It is the intent and purpose of these rules to encourage and allow the broadest possible participation of all voters in Republican Party activities at all levels and to assure that the Republican Party is open and accessible to all Americans.”

So, pulling names from a hat comports with these lofty aims?

It is up to the active members of each State’s GOP to set those rules.

Here’s an idea, rather than whining on the Internet, find your local Party chair and GET INVOLVED.

Huh?

Instead of complaining about the process you should participate in it and be a part of the solution. Otherwise, you end up whining about it and falsely claiming that you're being cheated.

Stolen from whom? Can you provide a receipt? Maybe some kind of tax document foreordaining whoever your Chosen One is?

My point is that it is completely up to any political party to decide how they want to select their nominee. The minor parties don't even have primaries or caucuses - at most they might have a convention. The GOP has decided to allow the state parties a lot of freedom to determine how to select their delegates and whether or not those delegates will be bound to a candidate. That may or may not involve a presidential preference vote like a primary or a straw poll at the caucus.

This seems a bit like saying “Don’t like the say the mafia works?..."

As far as analogies go, you suck.

Why does a local Republican have to be active to be part of the initial phases of electing delegates to represent their preference for a candidate?

For the same reason 312 million of us don't vote on every piece of legislation that passes through Congress.

The delegate system is outdated...as is our Congressional system...ie...all of Congress power is concentrated in DC, where lobbyists arrive with baskets of goodies to “influence” the Congresscritters. The delegates system is concentrated among those who can buy their way with money and time into it...yes, I know it’s the Party...but, today’s working class doesn’t realize this, and I’ve never seen an article or ad for “delegates wanted placed by a “party”

Getting to be like the Magnificent Seven :)

Unless our guy wins outright before the convention, or does win first ballot, we rock and roll.

Six fingers up right now :)

The problem:

Delegates and Representatives and Senators are voting for DONORS instead of voters.

That's why we, the voters, are being cheated.

Interesting. My experiences have been just the opposite. Local grass roots types (Tea Party folks) influence our local and the state GOP doesn't challenge us. The RNC has little or nothing to do with us. Our actions reflect the will of the voters. If not, leadership gets replaced. Nothing better represents the genius of our constitutional republic than when local people control their politics.

Of course, if you don't bother to participate, people are going to think you really don't care and may lose their enthusiasm for your candidacy. But that's just human nature and everyone with a very good brain already knows this and acts accordingly.

We vote for our delegates.

I voted for my delegate right here in Colorado! It was like a functioning republic in action, just like our forefathers envisioned.

If ignorance truly is bliss, why are you trump supporters so angry and not happy?

If you'd participated in the political process at the grassroots level as I and others on here have, you'd know how the delegate process works.

You're pointing to the problem, which at the end of the day is an ignorant, uninformed and frankly, STUPID electorate that's more interested in reality TV than they are in the nuts and bolts of how America is supposed to work.

This is why we "get the government we deserve." A vote cast out of ignorance and the damage it does is now being exposed. There's two sides to this coin. The first is the corrupt political system we're now all seeing. The second is the ignorance of the electorate.

Can't have the corruption in the system without the ignorance that enabled it.

In PA, there is no delineation of Who is for who on the ballot. It doesn’t matter anyways, Gleason has stacked the deck for the GOPe. I often wondered “Why am I choosing a delegate who doesn’t get advertised about who he/she is for?”
