To cozen someone is to cheat, trick, defraud, swindle, or beguile him, and cozenage is the practice of these unseemly acts: trickery and swindling. The English statesman and historian Macaulay (1800-1859) thundered against a political opponent: "He had cozened the world by fine phrases."

Human beings test themselves, and improve themselves by being their own prey and predator in mental competition. The advertisers cozen us into buying the products of those who pay them, or is it that they have cozened those merchants into believing them first?
Meanwhile, we grow inured to the hype and banter, requiring more and more outrageousness to rouse us from our stupors. It is of course provided; the wars of wit and wisdom continue, and the prey become more wily as the predators become more bold.

xsteen is out of town on biz, and xsbaby has started working part time in the IT dept of her dad’s ofc to gain some experience while looking for a full time job [his IT guy asked if he could hire her, which was nice of him]. That means I am caring for Gord solo after work until his dad gets to our house. I am feeding them both and bathing Gord and getting him ready for bed, to help his dad out. Man, I am too old for this! He has an ear infection and so he’s fussy, whereas he is normally very pleasant.
