Former WWE superstar Joanie Laurer, also known as Chyna, has died at the age of 45, her manager said in a statement on Twitter early Thursday.
The immediate cause of death was unknown. Laurers manager told Pro Wrestling Sheet that she was found dead in her Redondo Beach, Calif. home Wednesday and that she had been taking medication for anxiety and sleep deprivation. Its unclear if her medications played a part in her death, but TMZ reported that authorities are investigating her death as a possible overdose.
She will live forever in the memories of her millions of fans and all of us that loved her, a statement read on her Twitter account.
WWE Chief Brand Officer Stephanie McMahon paid tribute in a Tweet calling Laurer's death "tragic news" and describing Chyna as "truly a pioneer in our industry".

She was actually 46.
That’s a shame. She seemed self destructive for quite some time. I thought I read she had gotten past that, however, in the last year or two.
She was actually very attractive until all the heavy androgen use gave her a man face. Shame.
Wasn’t she on an episode of: “Third Rock From the Sun?”
Wrestlers don’t live long lives
If you saw her Howard Stern interviews its pretty clear she was hanging by a thread for the last decade.
An obvious steroid user in an age where Vince was denying it. If you are doing something illegal at a time when your employer is denying it, you aren’t getting any help.
Wrestlers have been dropping like flies lately. Brett Hart made it through cancer surgery and is expected to make an appearance soon but not in a wrestling role. I haven’t watched any of it since WCW folded.
Sad story, reduced to porn I’ve learned.
Axl Rotten and Balls Mahoney both died recently.
You might enjoy it if you started watching again. They got rid of the “Divas” title, and the women’s division had arguably the best match on the entire Wrestlemania card this year. Ric Flair’s daughter is the current champ and she’s going up against Jim”The Anvil” Neidhart’s daughter, Natalya at the next PPV. And the actually wrestle, not just hair-pulling catfights.
Alot of the older guys like Arn Anderson and Dean Malenko are road agents and still work for WWE in a behind-the-scenes capacity.
So probably a suicide then?
Yep. Axl, Balls, Hack Myers and now Chyna. Very sad. That’s four wrestlers who have died in the last five months, all between 41 and 45 years old.
Drugs.
