Gun taxes, thought policing and the triumph of the ‘Force-Left’
Americans for Limited Government ^ | 28 Apr, 2018 | Dustin Howard

The totalitarian temptation is proving too much for the left across America. Daniel Flynn, in his book A Conservative History of the American Left, contrasted the “Freedom Left”, the benign old-fashioned liberals, versus the “Force Left”, the descendants of Marx that malignantly oppose fundamental rights in pursuit of their radical aims. The Force Left has successfully seized control of their movement, and their fundamental transformation is manifesting in current events daily as we watch their struggle for ever more power.

The left as a whole has long been hostile to the Second Amendment, but has been divided of the regulatory means of mitigating its effects. Background checks, registries, magazine limits have all been incrementalist “salami tactics” to limit gun ownership, and according to them, limit violence.

The latest tack is to levy taxes against weapons and ammunition — some more confiscatory than others. In Seattle, it is 25 dollars per firearm, with a nickel tax on ammunition over .22 caliber, and a 2 cent tax on smaller calibers, which the National Rifle Association is litigating against. In the Northern Marianas Islands, to compensate for losing their handgun ban in court, their Governor imposed a $1,000 “excise” tax on the importation of firearms.

The end game of these taxes is to discourage the purchases, create better documentation surrounding purchases, and limit the accessibility of exercising a constitutional right. But like the poll tax violating the right to vote, a confiscatory gun tax surely violates the individual right to keep and bear arms. If treated like real estate, a firearms tax could become a way to confiscate weapons from those who could not pay the tax, thus discriminating against the poor from exercising their Second Amendment rights.

The left should just move to N Korea and leave us the hell alone.

confusing rights and privileges is why we lose control of the language and then control of the issues.

There is no right-to-vote. It is a privilege. It is a privilege which the 14th Amendment grants to all citizens through due-process-of-law.

In contrast, the 2d amendment is a right. It is not a privilege. Illegal immigrants have a right to bear arms just as they have a right to freedom of religion and right to life.

Illegal immigrants in Chicago who carry guns in self-defense is one of the best proofs of the arguments of John Lott.

.., a firearms tax could become a way to confiscate weapons from those who could not pay the tax...

An attempt a, confiscation of American guns and ammunition was the flash point of this Country’s Independence fight against King George III’s Redcoats at Lexington, and it’s ending with Lord Cornwallis surrendering at Yorktown.

“The shot heard round the world” was fired at Lexington.

That could also describe the recent Mexican riot at Costa Mesa, CA. That incident & all that it implies are not going away; liberals & therefore the media are obsessing on it because “this could hand Trump the election, as racist whites vote their worst fears and prejudices”.

Sorry for going off topic, but libs are begging the rioters not to stop rioting, but to put away the Mexican flags.

Anyway, this thread is spot on. The Force Left wants our guns and the more they screech “Nobody’s coming to take your guns!!!” the more we know that’s what they really want.

“Freedom Left”, “Force Left”—same foundation, same end goal. Different tools in one box.

Good. I was just starting to look for a separating term, noting the current dominant Left has abandoned diversity, privacy, and liberty.

If the "Freedom Left" exists at all today, they are too afraid of the Force Left to speak up. Sensible people, confronted with that dynamic would draw the obvious conclusion about the Force Left. Obviously, no one remaining on the left is sensible; that side only has thugs and fools today. In terms of outcomes for the thugs, life without parole is the mildest acceptable consequence for their evil. I doubt they will stand aside for mild though.

And,speaking of people flying Mexican flags flying north of the Rio Grande like at Costa Mesa, that didn’t work out so well for Mexico in Texas in 1836.

Americans, Texicans of the past, and non metro Texans today are a rebellious bunch

Watch for future anti-Trump rioters celebrating the massacres of Texans at the Alamo and at Goliad.

“The left should just move to N Korea and leave us the hell alone.”

North Korea is already occupied by a violent leftist aristocracy.

The United States leftist want to create their own state of similar ilk, in order to have a shot at being in the top ranks. If they succeed, watch for the purges and blood baths as they fight for dominance among themselves.
