If the circular firing squad continues, there will be a large number of voters in either the Trump or Cruz camp that will sit out the election and hand it to the 'Beast if their guy doesn't win.

That is unacceptable: we need EVERYBODY on our side to unite to have any hope of defeating THEM.

Most likely, Trump will get to 1237 before the convention: at this point, it would be a blessing. I supported Cruz and voted for him in the PA primary, but IN NO WAY will I withhold my vote from Trump if he becomes the nominee. I just hope more of get on board the #NeverHillary train now, and vow to support either one of our guys.

Abandonment of fundamental principles in order to bash both the GOPee and (eventually) H->! .

Why have so many here on FR turned on Ted Cruz in such a vicious way?

He has acted against his "brand promise".

He manipulates truth, ethics, etc. He is no longer trusted. He sides with our enemies. He is now coming off as deranged. Take your pick.

I’ve turned on ted Cruz, because Ted Cruz has turned on the American voter and shown himself to be a dishonorable man.

To win at any cost is to lose.

He should have learned that in Iowa, but he did not.

Cruz turned out to be not who he said he was in many respects, so many felt betrayed by that. Hence the ‘turning against’.

Because we figured out that he is just another lawyer/career politician who uses the tea party to advance his career.

I am with you. Choosing Trump as the better candidate is one thing. This character assassination of a conservative champion is another. They’ll single out TPA or another issue, as if being anything but 100% doctrinaire is the only thing acceptable. That would be fine if their alternative solution is about 40% conservative. But hell, lets toss the guy with 100% conservative rating overboard. This election took a bad turn in January when Trump let loose on Cruz. It was unnecessary and made things a lot worse in the long run. He alienated a large block of voters who had Trump as their 2nd pick.

Trump’s entry into the race changed the whole paradigm. What were likely viable candidates suddenly were chump change. Early in the process, Cruz remained fairly neutral. As time went by and the race narrowed to Trump and Cruz, anything Cruz said to damage Trump only served to make Trump supporters more strident, committed and more vocal in their support.

I voted for Ted.
He’s lost- it’s over- go away gracefully, but go away.

Do wish the Trump supporters would show some good manners and sense though (wish the Cruz supporters had earlier).

And to add to my earlier comments, he is somehow a liar or unethical or some bullcrap, even though the examples are made up. It started with the Carson Iowa thing, which simply was a repeat of the CNN story, but I guess Cruz is the devil for doing that. Trump’s challenge to the status quo was great, but this has become a weird cult of personality like the Obama-zombie movement that still blinds millions to this day.

I agree with you that it is past time for us all to start getting back together to beat the real foes. There has been plenty of animosity on both sides of this; is it really a good idea to ask people to dredge up all the crap? After the election maybe a little soul searching would be appropriate... right now maybe it would be just as well to move on and start working on making sure that the Democrats lose?

I have asked myself the same question. The anti-Cruz vitriol and hero-worship is astonishing.

Because he is the most evil person in the history of the universe? There is no bad thing that he has not done.

Cruz just isn’t likable or trustworthy, and that eventually gets picked up by the voters and freepers. It gets verified by voting and polling. Cruz is a loser.

Because the more we hear him speak , the more we learn about who he really is. He is very condescending, arrogant, Etc and we’ll not get out of the way of the voters choice. People have spoken, he doesn’t listen
