Movie: Quartermass and the Pit (1967)

This is an under appreciated low budget sci-fi flick.

This was a series and they made several of them but this is the best.

Dr. Bernard Quartermass is prominent scientist/astrophysicist who has various adventures in the films.

The film was released with the title "5 million years from Earth" in the US.

Quartermas and the Pit

Enjoy

It’s a terrific movie but please note: it’s ‘Quatermass’.

Oh the movie scared me to death as a kid.

It has all the hokey stuff of cheap sci-fi but manages to rise above the cliches and be really entertaining.

One of my favorites. The original British TV teleplay is pretty good too.

This film remembered for the name of Hobbs Lane. In today’s world it doesn’t seem to be as far fetched, Everyone around us is as nutty as a fruit cake, but creatures that look like grasshoppers are only grasshoppers. A favorite movie that is still seen on occasion even today.

The British were able to make scifi seem somehow more serious and believable. It's the accent and the quality of the actors. Another example from around the same period was The Giant Behemoth, sort of a British Godzilla. Jack MacGowran, recognizable from The Quiet Man as Squire Dannagher's toady, plays a crazy paleontologist. Very entertaining.

Apropos movie for today.

I believe someone has actually uncovered a craft like this - explaining left wing behavior.

The movie features scenes at the end where OWS, BLM, and anti-Trump protestors tear up London.

Two notes:

It's Dr. Bernard Quatermass and the film you mentioned is named "Five Million Years to Earth"

My favorite schlocky Sci-fi movie of all time.

The movie was good, but it was based on a much earlier BBC TV series from 1958/59.

As a 10 year old that original series scared the s**t out of me...

...and I’m still worried about anywhere called Hobbs Lane...:^)
