Ok, I am going to be the idiot who asks, “How the heck did you lose your job at the post office?”
It’s a ‘bit’ from a period in time when people were claiming all sorts of problems due to their working for/at the “Post Office” (aka ‘going postal’) and/or receiving mail/junk mail, ANY mail.
Then, it was an actual gun phobia similar to the current toilet cause de ‘celeb.
The gun phobia continues, as you probably well know.
