Travelers flying out of Chicago just cant catch a break. With increasingly long lines to get through security at the citys airports, many travelers have been missing their flights, and some ended up sleeping at OHare International Airport on Sunday.
American Airlines put out cots for fewer than 100 travelers who missed their flights Sunday night due to the long lines at TSA security checkpoints.

There is no situation that can’t be made worse by adding more Government.
NetMeeting....
Very odd. I was just there a week ago for an international flight on United, albeit through priority security, and didn’t notice anything.
I’m from the government and I’m here to help.........................
Isn’t this the Cloward-Piven strategy?
Overload the system to precipitate a crisis, then you can use that crisis to further your actual goal.
So the question becomes: what goal does the Obama administration want to achieve?
Universal background checks on Americans?
The system is not broken, the government is breaking it to achieve another goal.
Rental cars for <500mi.
TSA wants a bigger budget.
Lync, Skype, Bluejeans.com, among others.
That makes a huge difference, most of the time. I've been using Pre-Check since the beginning (as I was enrolled in Global Entry).
I've traveled a couple of times where the Pre-Check line was longer than the regular line (because it was full of business travelers), but that's rare. Most of the time, I waltz right through.
It's $85 for 5 years. If you travel round-trip twice a year, that's $4.25 per flight departure. Believe me, it's worth the reduction in aggravation.
If you travel internationally, spend another $15 for Global Entry. You'll get a faster trip through US Customs when you return home, and all the Pre-Check benefits.
One caution: you have to schedule a personal appearance for either one. You can only do so for Global Entry at a limited number of airports. I'm not sure where the TSA Pre-check interviews are held, so check on that BEFORE you pay the non-refundable fee, or you will have to book a trip to an enrollment center.
I usually draw the line at 300-350 miles. At the 5 hour point, it gets quicker to fly.
No sympathies. They bought the ticket knowing full well what awaits them.
See the USA in your Chevrolet. And get to your destination quicker or at least with less hassle and humiliation.
I’d rather drive 3000 miles than board a plane these days.
Two hours and fifty minutes before my flight, I was clear of security and in the terminal wondering what I was going to do for all of that time. (Happily, there was a bar with halfway decent beer.)
They are slowing down the lines so that they can hire thousands more!
And it wil not ease. Travel restrictions.
You think it is slow NOW??
Just wait until TSA Unionizes, and stages a nationwide slowdown for Mo’ Money.
Has anyone here ever flown out of Israel? How long are their security lines? How many terrorist incidents have they had?
Until TSA checkpoints start appearing along the interstate highway system.
