Vanity: Am I the only one upset by this...
Me | May 23, 2016 | HarleyLady27

This to me, is a total disgrace to America and our Veterans that served during Viet Nam.

We have a wall with names of fallen Veterans that served this Country for it's freedoms and making it safe, and this President goes there and offers them weapons and other things...

Maybe I am upset because a lot of people I knew served there, people I grew up with, boys that I dated, men that I rode with, that never came back home...

I was privledged to see the "Viet Nam Wall" when I went with the Rolling Thunder out of PA. This was very hard for me as I found the names of my friends and have them today...

This worthless POS does not respect America nor does he respect our Military or our Veterans...

I think Japan did very well under Truman once the war was over.

Argh. Thanks for reminding me. Sometimes I forget they are still Communist, as strange as that sounds.

By that token then you shouldn’t be selling weapons to Japan or Germany or Italy. Or the French and the British if you want to go back far enough. Opponents under some circumstances frequently become allies in other circumstances. It’s nothing new. And right now Vietnam has as much interest in controlling China’s expansion as the U.S. does.

We owe them for invading Cambodia and putting an end to the killing fields while all the “free” nations stood around and did nothing.

Perhaps I should have marked it “friend”. Don’t blame me. I didn’t make up the rules of diplomacy. However, remembering who we have currently in the administration, it wouldn’t have surprised me if Obama wasn’t kissing his ass or at the least, having Kerry do the ass-kissing for him.

Understood. rlmorel did a better job of saying what I was thinking in his post #20

The Japanese did very well...under Macarthur. They absolutely love him. I had a room near a statue to Macarthur, and Japanese tourists would excitedly get off their tour bus and start snapping photos of each other with the statue.

This is like posing with that huge Che mural behind him in Cuba. It’s his passive-aggressive way of telling us “HA HA I fooled you guys!”

I can understand the Japanese, I can understand a lot of thing about life, but to have someone of this disgrace, to bring more disgrace to America and the people that fight for this Nation and her freedoms, to act like this is just to hard for me to forgive...

I pray that when President Trump goes there, if he goes there, that it will be business only, and we won't have to see pictures of him like this...that would break my heart completely...

I realize it's my disdain for this pResident that upsets me the most, but at least have some compassion and grace from the Nation your suppose to represent!!!

HL, you are not alone. However, consider the source of your displeasure. A skinny mulatto Muslim, makes nice with our past enemies and castrates our military in doing so. There is nothing new in the fact he has done that. He’s done it countless times before. This is what we’ve come to expect from this vine swinging creature. Sit back, watch and pray one day soon he will reap what he has sown. At that time you and I will be watching with smiles alongside countless other Americans.

All in God’s time, all in due time. Amen

Why would you think that you are the only person outraged by Soetoro’s treatment of our troops? As we’ll see in the fall, the majority of voters are infuriated about that.

It was around 45 years ago that it ended. If someone was bitching about interacting with Japan or Germany in 1990, because of WWII, they’d look like an idiot. Of course its fine to interact with Vietnam now. The veteran tours are a busy business and people couldn’t be anymore friendly or less bitter towards us.

That said, Obama is the wrong person to do it because everyone knows he would have been with the enemy in the war era.

I agree !

USA is trying to rally Philippines, Vietnam , S Korea, Japan, Taiwan, India etc. to contain China. And they are all on board because China threatens them all.

that’s fine, but Oba should have never given the gooks a photo op.

He just does it because he knows it infuriates US veterans. It is his way of giving them the finger as he slinks out the door.

>> they are still Communist <<

They are Communist in name only. The reality is that they are an old-fashioned one-party dictatorship that practices crony capitalism. Not terribly different from Franco’s Spain, Mussolini’s Italy, or Chiang Kai-Shek’s Taiwan.

I had the same disgusted feeling as the OP.

But Nam has had a cold relationship with China since their war in the 80s, so there might be some “benefit” in this. Keyword is MIGHT.

I just wish we were getting major concessions from these people for it. But I’m expecting nothing but another humiliation all the way through.
