I swear this is the last Marvel film I see: Captain America reviewed

Captain America: Civil War is the 897th installment — or something like it — in the Marvel comic franchise. This time round, the superheroes take sides, with the marketing asking if you’re #TeamCap or #TeamIronMan but not if you’re #TeamNeither, as would be most useful in my case. I swear this is the last Marvel film I will see as I never get anything out of them and whatever I say only sets the fans against me, which is not what you want at my age.

Expect nothing and enjoy the mindless entertainment that most flicks offer - it’s an opportunity to hold my wife’s hand in a dark theater, eat pop-corn and take a break for everyday living....

Heck, most of the movies critics hate I like, and most they like, I hate.

Ah, yes, My old standy "Leonard Maltin/Gene Shalit" barometer for establishing on whether or not I would spend cash to see a movie (I no longer indulge, as its pretty much guaranteed that it would be a waste of money.)

The barometer worked like you describe, if the aforementioned 'worthies' panned it, it may be worth the shekels, but if they loved it, then definitely not...

Hold that, ah, thought.

i watched a half hour of it and turned it off

And then the projectionist asked "Who the hell are you and what are you doing in here?" and called for the manager.

It was a nice touch that both Captain America and Iron Man evolved in opposite directions. Cap started out just wanting to be a good soldier (trying to get them to let him into the Army and volunteering for the experiment so he could help his country), and became increasingly disillusioned (first having to go against orders to save his comrades-in-arms, then finding that the people giving the orders have been thoroughly corrupted). Iron Man started out as a lone wolf, telling the government to kiss his @$$ when they tried to take control of his tech and then after the Ultron fiasco deciding that he can’t just do his own thing unsupervised.

I saw this film yesterday. It was a typical marvel movie which means its done very well. Im no fan of them all, iron man 2 wasnt as good as 1 and 3 wasnt very good at all. There were inner conflicts between the major players, mostly Iron Man avenging his parents while Captain America defends his friend, both right things to do. How does the viewer decide who to side with? It can be tough sometimes.

best part? "I'm shaking your hand too long!"
