Don’t think the Mongols ever reached Hungary. The blood line may came from the Attila the Hun, more than 1000 years ago before the Mongles

Actually the Magyars came out of the Tibetan hills and migrated into central Europe in what is now Hungary. Mussies invaded Hungary and occupied Budapest for a while. They were however stopped at the gates of Vienna (1683).

The Mongols even reached Germany, winning the Battle of Liegnitz in 1241.

Ghenis’ grandsons went all the way to the Danube slaughtered a euro army in excess of 20,000 then pulled back due to the Khan’s death in Mongolia.

I had read that upon the father’s death, his 4 sons became less able to coordinate an effective policy. It must have been even harder for grandsons. In addition to marshy land in Hungary, isn’t there a fairly large marsh called the Pripit Marsh in Poland? If they had to retreat to decide on a new ruler, perhaps the fact the Kublai Khan another relative was ruler in China may have made moving back there more sensible.
