Teen sells newspapers for 5 years, earns enough to pay off college before he even starts

A teenage boy in Tennessee used hard work, planning and dedication to earn enough money to pay for college before he even starts.

“I just stay away from the negativity and try to always be positive,” Kevuntez King told WHBQ.

King said he grew up in a single-parent home with him mother, whose influence paved his way to success.

“She just taught me how to be independent like she had it, (and) she just wanted me to go get it myself,” he said.

From age 12 to 17, King sold newspapers with one goal: earn enough to pay for his entire college education. And he did just that.

“When it came down to school, my mom didn’t have to come out of pocket to do anything or I didn’t have to take out any loans to go to school,” he told WHBQ.

He earned $200 every Sunday for five years straight and was just accepted into Tennessee State University.

Great story. I would love to know if his mother is a conservative.

God bless him. There may still be some hope for this country yet. Of course, when he gets older, he will be one of the productive taxpayers who is supporting the 47% who get handouts.

I hope college does not ruin his self sufficient spirit by teaching him how oppressed he is, somehow I think he will have the strength of character to resist the siren calls of the safe space crowd

He didn't do that!

Somebody else did that!

He's just lucky. It wasn't anything he did.

This young person is blessed to have learned how to be successful.
God is great, God is good, let us thank Him for his grace! Kindness! Love! And His Word!

AMEN!

Hate to be negative, but they probably shouldn’t be vocalizing this. Uncle Sam doesn’t like it when people make money without giving a pound of flesh for the kitty.

Now that this story is out will the IRS ask him if he paid taxes on it? And will they seize his money if he hasn’t?

This young man likely paid for his mothers way, too.
Likely he would not owe any taxes.

Praise his accomplishment.

“Great story. I would love to know if his mother is a conservative.”

___

Probably not, if she named him Kevuntez. He could mainstream it to Kevin, but that would be acting Asian.

What newspaper can you sell for $1 (from the sign) and make $200 in one day? If he buys it at 50c, he’s selling 400 copies. That’s impressive, and saving the money, as implied by the article, is even more impressive.

Why go to college, expand your paper route and do it a few more days a week.

Obama’s rebuttal: He used the bridges and roads that were built by someone else.

Tennessee State University's photo.

WELCOME TO TSU! Kevuntez King, a Memphis high school graduating senior, who beat the odds by staying out of trouble and focusing on his books, is coming to TSU. The teen, a three-sport athlete, sold newspapers on a corner for four years, rain or shine, catching the attention of many with his upbeat and positive attitude.

A young man going places!!! Hat off to him. Great job young man.
