Major storm Thursday night - 70 mph winds with bow echo. Trees down, power lines down, still 62K without power after 40K restored today. ETA for all power to be back on is Sun 11 p.m. Spent this morning trouble shooting generator which is now on so we have water, lights & fridge. Freezer acting up so all the good stuff is now in fridge freezer - whew! The afternoon was spent with a chainsaw & hauling debris. Driveway & “yard” are back to normal but fields will take a lot of work before I can now. Grateful for what we do have & that all my family is ok. Almost forgot to mention the garden! I thought it would be destroyed - it looks great - no idea how that happened.

The Lord smiled on your garden. That’s what happened. I have no doubt of it. Good thing you have that generator. I noticed ours had a lot of stuff in front of it in the garage the other day. I’m wondering if I can get hubby to start it and see if it’s working ok.

It is used so seldom, I’m afraid that it will not be operational when we need it.

What size is your generator and is it hardwired into the house or do you use extension cords? I have a small 1,000 watt Honda just to run the fridge and freezer. I drained all the fuel so I hope it starts when I need it

Glad to hear that you are safe and sound, and surviving even though its via a generator.
Electricity is something that we too often take for granted; just make sure that you have enough gasoline and propane.
I had problems with my freezer after just a minute or two of brown-out, and couldn't get to it in time. You might need a repairman.
Hang in there !
