The lonely lives of Latinos for Trump
Politico ^ | 6/26/2016 | Darren Samuelsohn

MIAMI — Lifelong friends unfriend them on Facebook. Siblings and parents refuse to talk politics. Their kids are home from college stoked about the socialist Bernie Sanders.

Sure, their candidate may love them and be three weeks away from becoming the GOP presidential nominee. But it still isn’t easy being a Latino for Donald Trump.

From the get-go, with his big campaign announcement splash about Mexican immigrants being rapists and criminals, to his more recent broadside against a federal judge of Mexican heritage, the billionaire Republican’s incendiary rhetoric has made life more than a little complicated for many of his supporters who carry ties to places like Cuba, Mexico, Puerto Rico and across Latin America.

I know two Latinas that are very pro-Trump.

One just became a citizen.

I suspect the vast majority of Americans think all Hispanics are Mexican even though there are 19 spanish countries. Mexican might as well be equivalent to calling a non Mexican “nigg-r”

Trump said Mexico is letting its criminals come across the border. Every d@mn person coming from Mexico illegally is violating our country's laws and likely paid drug lords money to get here, if they aren't drug gangs, themselves.

There is no argument on these points.

It does not make anyone “racist” to say such obvious things, and these ladies of whom I speak agree with my take.

This conflict between Cuban immigrants )who suffered under Castro) and their coddled kids and grand-kids is nothing new. During the first Obama election, I witnessed many a heated discussion. It came to a head in the lines as we waited to vote...

to his more recent broadside against a federal judge of Mexican heritage

Yeah. The guy who's the judge in a case involving him.

The corrupt SOB should have recused himself immediately.

Member of La Raza? Activist for illegal aliens (only the Mexican version of course, all others can be deported...so much for egalitarianism), the list goes on and on...why is Gonzalo Curiel even a Federal Judge? He's clearly a Mexican Nationalist, determined to pervert American justice, and get revenge for "my people" against the Evil Gringo, as exemplified by Donald J. Trump.

Even within Mexicans, those who immigrate are lower class non-whites. Mexico elites, just like Cuban and rest of the Latin American elites, are whites. The elites live behind barb-wired gates and armed security, but they need money for their lifestyle, so they send their mestizo and native masses as illegal immigrants.

“The lonely lives of Latinos for Trump”

Corrected:

“The lonely lives of Latinos ‘Openly’ for Trump”

I live in San Antonio and there are are PLENTY of Latinos that are quietly for Trump. Why? What group do you think loses the most jobs to illegal immigrants?

Hint, it ain't rocket scientists.

Again, they aren’t Mexican. Oh and Cubans can’t be illegal as a matter of Law because it was the US who sold Cuba out to the Soviets. Sort of a consolation prize if you will.

Correct - they don’t want to share the wealth with the Indians so they send them here and call us racists if we complain about paying for them.

I have seen such poverty in Mexico - and next to such wealth. Mexico ought to be forced by it’s people to solve it’s own social problems which is probably what would happen if we stopped letting them in here.

It's not that the judge is of Mexican heritage - it's that he's a professional La Raza Mexican - the Klu Klux Klan of the Mexicans. I wish Trump had made that distinction.

Nixon used to say there was a “silent majority” out there, who didn’t go to anti war protests, and didn’t stir up trouble.

It was a different time, but I think the same sentiment is there today. In addition to the Latinos discussed in this article, there are millions more of us who will silently be for Trump.

Nobody wants to be called racist, sexist, bigoted, homophobic, Islamophobic, xenophobic, etc. The liberal and media narrative has devolved to that anyone supporting Trump falls into these categories. Which in turn makes it less likely for someone to admit to a pollster that they are for Trump.

Which in turn makes me question how every poll out there shows Hillary with the lead.

sorry to ramble, but there is still a “silent majority” of Americans, who go to work everyday, take care of our kids, are responsible citizens, and who do not go to anti-anything protests. Those attending protests and attracting all the attention on the evening news are, in some cases professional agitators, and in any event, represent just a small minority of opinion in this country.

Probably. Who cares. The fact is that the elites in these countries live lavish lives. Their underclasses are either slaves at home or are sent over as illegals to do the menial jobs so that they can transfer dollars back home. The elites are parasites at home and the migrants become parasites overseas (free healthcare, education, etc) due to Democratic policies.

I don’t go to Mexico every winter like my friends and I used to - too dangerous now. But I feel for the vendors I saw on the beach - there were some old women and old men that I bought things from that I didn’t need. I’m sure the reduced tourism there has made a lot of lives even harder.

Love how you revel in your ignorance. Though you are right, except there wouldn’t be a supply if there was no demand. These people are coming here because they are getting work. Jail their employers.
