Why is Utah (and the Mormons) so quick to attack Trump and support Hillary? Why have they been so quiet to the crazy moves Obama has made?
Is this an outgrowth of a socially liberal doctrine that makes them essentially incapable of criticizing minoriities?

I KNOW this from Mormon friends who I trust.
I suspect a deal has been cut giving power to Utah in some future capacity far beyond simply giving Romney a ambassador position under Hillary.

Mormons have tended to be conservative BUT due to a strain of thought that they are trying to convert everyone in the world to Mormonism they have been VERY soft-headed about illegal immigration.
Utah was one of the first states to allow illegals to obtain drivers licenses, a move that shocked me at the time some years ago — until it was explained to me that they just look at everyone as another soul ready to be converted. So they don’t really care about upholding US laws and standards when the focus is upon mission work both domestically and abroad.
Mormons are fine citizens and good neighbors.
But it’s a business and not a religion.

But to answer your question : why are they going towards Hillary?
The answer is “she’s not Trump.”
Trump said very ugly things about good conservatives that they perceive to be untrue. Trump is thus highly suspect in their eyes. Trump has done zero to heal these wounds, instead doubling down on the hostility.

Mormons have never been conservitive or patriotic. They’re only for the Mormons and the rest us can burn. They attached themselves to the right when the left was attacking them and now they attach themselves to the left in order to futher Mormon goals.

That makes no sense at all. Main stream Mormons would not dare support hillary over Trump, mo matter what Mitt says. There are a lot of gays and libs in Utah over the past decade or so. Even SLC has a big lefty mayor but by and large the overall Mormon populace is staunchly conservative and self reliant.
