Texas held the largest naturalization ceremony this week that the Lone Star States capital has ever seen. The ceremony was used to assault Donald Trump, the Second Amendment, and the death penalty before 1,210 new U.S. citizens and their families and friends. The Guest of Honor, Democrat Travis County Judge Sarah Eckhardt told the participants flanked by voter registration tables, I encourage everyone to register to vote and hopefully, not for that guy who is against immigrants.
The husband of one of the participants, Kyle Hood, told Breitbart Texas that he was offended that the ceremony was used by the county judge from Austin to advance a political agenda. Hood says he has no particular allegiance to any political party, but thought the event should not have been used to tell new citizens who to vote for president.
He added, While I do not speak for immigrants, when she was saying that I was thinking the guy [Trump] she was talking about is not against immigrants, he is against illegal immigrants. He said he thought that most of those sworn in that day would feel the same way, that these newly naturalized citizens were for legal immigration. He was so taken-back at the time she made the comment, he actually wrote it down.
Hood told Breitbart Texas, I have a problem with her using her title and position to make what I thought was particularly political comments to a captive audience.

Is that even legal to do?
Not surprised this happened in Austin. It’s the blue blight in the middle Texas. Uber liberal nut jobs. When Texas secedes, we’re excising that hell hole.
i didn’t read the article and have nothing to contribute only that this is texas. what happens to these folks when you secede?
This is a TEXAS JUDGE!?
Houston, you have a problem!
“California?”
That’s what your profile showed when I checked a couple days ago. Why’d you remove it?
Time was NOBODY could emigrate to the US unless they had a job, or sponsor, that they were of good moral character, and carried no communicable diseases.
I fail to see the "controversy" of that.
What country, no matter how liberal, wants diseased welfare mooches?
My honest opinion? We Italians and Irish should have NEVER been allowed to come over by millions and millions!!
How do you vet all those people? Many came with little or no money and the 5 points were a disaster and there was a lot of crime from both groups early on.
But America got lucky. They were still Europeans with at least an IDEA of freedom and opportunity.
Tough 20 or 30 years but that was it.
Blacks haven’t changed in 140 years. Hispanics aren’t exactly racing up the economic ladder either.
Maybe it is because of the welfare state that everything got screwed up.
When the mass migration in the 1890s-early 1990s came along, there WAS no welfare to mooch off of.
Probably because the average American at the time was likely to be poor themselves, and of course there was no income taxes.
When folks came here 100 years ago, they knew they needed to WORK.
Ergo, the immigrants of 100 years ago were most welcome, because they wanted to be AMERICAN. Period.
And the US has been blessed by their presence.
Many times over.
In 2016, we have complete sponges crossing the border, who literally COST the average Joe money.
Not to mention the crime and disease.
We've become a victim of our own success.
Oops. 1890s-1900s. NOT the 1990s!
I never thought you did!! We’re conservative. We’re not thin skinned :)
And the REASON it did work out was because of what you sai, and perhaps if the Irish and Italians had been thrown EVERYTHING for free they’d be today’s blacks.
If I were an American during prohibition and read about Italians using Tommy Guns and running wild, I would have wanted them all deported.
AND many were socialists or anarchists!!!
But democracy and capitlism usually wins the hearts and minds of people over time.
A welfare state NEVER does that.
Also, the fact is that a lot of Italians came and went like the Mexicans but realized there was nothing in Italy to stay for so they came back again. Except they were legal.
I love my Italian heritage but it’s a DROP of water in an ocean compared to my love for my country. :)
Or as Mike Waltrup says, when you say “Bless your heart”.to someone, that’s just a polite way of says “ you are stupid”. Seems appropriate in this case.
She should be disbarred.
I was thinking the guy [Trump] she was talking about is not against immigrants, he is against illegal immigrants.

Actually, Kyle, you should have been thinking “the guy [Trump] she was talking about is not against immigrants, he is against illegal ALIENS.
His immigration position paper on his site mentions legal immigration, also says anyone coming here has to provide proof they can financially support themselves

That was the law when I came here in 1971...
Not really a judge. The county judge of a county in Texas is really the county executive. Only in small counties does a county judge ever exercise a judicial function.
I wish the state legislature had the power to impeach and remove local office holders who violate their oaths of office to uphold the constitions of the United States and Texas.
No question about it. The GOP today is what the democrats were forty years ago. Reagan was the last conservative that I can recall.
