The knives are out to sabotage Donald Trumps nomination, defying the wishes of the record number of Republican primary voters who chose him.
Pols who backed losing candidate Ted Cruz are mounting a sour-grapes campaign to rig the Republican National Convention rules. Their goal is to deny Trump the nomination. Meanwhile, in Virginia, a state where Trump came in first in the primary, a lawsuit filed Friday by an anti-Trump pol claims he and fellow delegates should be free to ignore the voters and follow their own conscience when they choose a nominee at the Convention.
Be prepared for more whining and skullduggery ahead, as an embittered minority of Republican insiders tries to derail Trumps unorthodox candidacy.
This unsavory drama will play out between now and the Conventions start on July 18.

I’ve known they would do anything, including cheat, since very early in the campaigns. I’ve also said so repeatedly.
I also think this will only make Trump stronger, as has everything they’ve tried to do to stop him so far.
Dear Washington,
America is coming.
And they’re bringing Donald J Trump.
I think you are correct. Malcontents like the boob in N Dakota in reality number under 100. Trump has a 300 cushion. Not many folks want their GOP party hack status ruined of find their lives in danger if they were supposed to vote Trump and didn’t. Cause when they get home from Cleveland if could be dicey for them if Trump is denied the nomination and they didn’t vote for him and were elected to do so. Most delegates signed up to paahty, not be martyrs for Cruz or Kasich or Jebberino.
The answer to your question is already in my post, that is, to ‘see what happens’.
Do you not know what I mean by that?
Amen. A thousand RINOS may fall at his side but it shall not come nigh him.
I can’t tell from your post if you are advocating that because you agree with the saboteurs or want to see what happens to them if they pull off that stunt.
They are like the bugle player in this old timey radio bit:

No. Check the a-holes out on Twitter. The ONLY things Goldberg, French, Shapiro et al do is trash Trump. Not a word about Cankles. Even Democrats have more honor because at least they u derstand winning.
Exactly so. It cost $5,000 - $10,000 to be a delegate, and since delegates haven't made any difference for decades, there are a limited number of people willing to lay out the cash to be extras on a TV set.
I am disappointed that so few FReepers have so little experience with the actual process. No wonder conservatives seem to be outside looking in - they do it by choice.
I wish! However, I see, nor know, anyone who will do a thing about it.
The GOP has gone off the deep end - even conservatives. I go to functions, and friends actually ask me who I am going to vote for for President. Unbelievable.
I feel like it is “Ground Hog Day” and every day is Primary Day.
The GOP bitter root is a dangerous thing to have. It needs to be plucked out for the good of the country.
I was a big anti-Trump guy but he beat 17 other candidates and did it on a shoestring budget. If the GOPe denies him the nomination, I will quit the party and write in his name if he doesn’t run on a third party.
Trump is the legitimate choice of the Republican voters. Right now I’m all in for Trump. Any attempt to undo the election and give it to anyone else is going to backfire and may result in a Hillary victory and the end of our Constitutional Republic.
In other words: ‘Go ahead, I dare ya’.
Most of us know what’s going on here - the power and domination hungry elites turning us into a nation of lowly serfs, totally dependent on the crumbs they decide to give us.
This is our last chance for a civilized solution to them permanently destroying our country, economy, and culture.
We have been sold down the river by the very people who pledged to stop the madness, and we don’t much like it.
I really believe idiots like Goldberg, French, Shapiro et al want to say at the end of the day they were the ones responsible for helping Trump to not getting elected...they want that glory, that I believe...
Depends on where you draw the lines in the hierarchy. Sitting congresspeople, probably 10-20 serious malcontents - nearly all of them if you consider the impact of an anti-insider, anti-globalist power taking root. add in the political celebrities like Romney, Priebus, etc. who aren't in government.
Looking at delegates to the convention, I think your number is about right, a few hundred. But only a handful of them are vocal about it. Those are the ones that are used by the press, and both parties (the malcontents and the press) are more than happy with this "amplified voice" trick.
Then there are the talking voices on teevee and radio. Amanda Carpenter, SE Cupp, Levin, Hewitt, most of NRO, and on and on to maybe 40 or 50 (the token conservatives that the press claims represents the position of the "conservative voters." More of this "amplified malcontents" trick.
They aren't going to go away, although they may go quiet from time to time. I expect they will work to undermine Trump after he is elected.
WAAAAAAAAAA!!! I didn’t win so now I want to change the rules.

He needs to be and there is push going on to drydock him.
Just a reminder: Any decision by the Rules Committee has to be approved by a vote of the whole convention.
Yeah, they can use those knives if they want to slit their own political throats.
