The F-35 was a great idea that failed due to mission creep.

The proper “better” comparison is with the F-22, which should absolutely be brought back.

Considering that the F35 is single engine it’s an especially boneheaded move by the Navy to purchase them. Look at the loos/crash rates of F-16s vs F-18s and F-15s. They aren’t even close.

Single engine plane over vast empty ocean expanses. What could go wrong?

I ave a cousin who flew F-18s off of carriers for the Navy.

He has helped with the F-35 and completely disagrees with you.

With its stealth, sensor fusion, longer range, etc. he says it is in fact going to be better than the Super Hornet.
