Let Spaniards be Spaniards. If they like it, it’s fine with me. I had a particularly fine steak from the Golan Heights this evening. I have no idea how it was killed, but it had to die so I could eat it. It was delicious.

As people have mentioned, fighting bulls live much happier lives than the critter YOU just ate for dinner. Do the fighting bulls suffer? Yeah, for about 20 minutes, which is the length of a professional bullfight. Big deal.

Do you torture your food before you kill and eat it? The picadores (barbed knives on a stick) they use during the bull fight stuck in the upper shoulder muscles causes the bull intense pain to make it turn in a predictable direction and causes it to fight more fervently. It also weakens the animal to make it easier to avoid. Near the end it just stands with blood streaming from woumds and its mouth as the brave toreador issues the coup de grace with a sword. The meat is so riddled with adrenaline it tastes bad and is thrown away.
GOOD.
That’s bullfighting. Some Spaniards and Mexicans of the Spanish tradition love it. I’m inclined to leave it at that.
Mind your own business, and don’t eat meat if it is too cruel for your psyche.
