Husband’s work in Dallas let out early so everyone could get home before the planned event.
He worked close enough that the shooting shut down transit stops around the employer.

And we know of another employer that did the same.

My day of rage:
Laundry
Donated to Freerepublic
Donated to Trump
Wrote checks to several gun rights groups
Freelancing
Took son swimming
Explained to kids why Dad is home early today, whereas worked late last week due to Dallas shooting
Made dinner
Arranged playdates for next week

I wonder if enough places closed at 3 and 4 instead of 5 PM plus people emptying out of downtown instead of shopping or eating out that it hurts local businesses - so that they then in turn ask the city not to let these hooligans march.
I don’t know if there has been local chaos, didn’t want to watch the news due to the kids.

What's a lowlander?

A hillbilly that lives in the valley.

About 6 annoyed looking bros were standing behind us and our bikes at bike night.

They may have been peeved about my rebel vest patches or “thin blue line” ribbons I had all over me and my bike.

I assume any ‘rage’ they felt was kept in check by several hundred bikers and a score of serious looking town cops.

Quite frankly, I don't care who you are or what you're doing, no one has ANY right to step onto someone else's property and tell, request, mandate, whatever --- what they do with their property, period. I don't care how "nice" they are about it -- get off my property and STAY off. Don't care who you are.

As for GMO foods, I avoid them.

Pioneer Seeds knows and agrees with your position on private property, that’s why they wrote a letter ASKING permission, and offering a couple different forms of compensation.

You can rest assured there will be no trespassing by Pioneer.

As to the GMO’s, this incident illustrates one small reason seed companies prefer to work in a laboratory. There they can control many of the variables as compared to the outside world, where they may run into unreasonable opposition to their research.

The research will continue, and progress will be made, it’s just a matter of how and where. Outside using natures methods, or producing genetically modified seed in the lab.

We all have some voice in the matter, including TE’s voice.

My interest in all this stems from my being a farmer at one time. Pioneer Seed was and is a strong presence in making the price of food for the American Family the lowest in the world, in fact the lowest in the entire history of the world.

Never before have so many people had so much food at such a low cost.

I’m proud to have been a part of that effort.

Texas Eagle’s response made me laugh because it was stereotypically crusty, not much further than that.

I am for GMO crops. That likely puts us at odds with each other, but I can live with it if you can. I can certainly fully respect your point of view, I just feel differently about it.

I think we are going to enter a world (and relatively soon) where people are going to cry for any food that they can get, and they won’t care if it is GMO or not.

I feel exactly the same way about irradiated food.

I have a lot of respect for farmers, I am not one of those people that thinks my food comes from a grocery store chain, and that a steak doesn’t have clear plastic covered styrofoam tray as a womb with the little absorbent pack under the meat serving as a placenta. I fully understand the process it takes to get an ear of corn from a seed in a bin somewhere to my shopping bag.

There they can control many of the variables as compared to the outside world, where they may run into unreasonable opposition to their research.

What you call unreasonable opposition I call righteous opposition. Pioneer seed, like Monsanto wants to control the FOOD SOURCE. Once they control the food source, they control the people by forcing them to go to Pioneer, Monsanto, etc.. for seeds to grow food.

Not just no, but HELL NO.

I grew up in Iowa around a large farming community. All my friends lived on farms and I worked on many farms while growing up. I've got some experience in this area myself.
