Yes was the best live band I ever saw in young days. Definitely.

A great live appearance by the Beatles on Swedish TV in 1963:

Drop In.

The Dead were fine as long as Jerry didn’t sing.

The Moody Blues were excellent in concert, then and now.

I saw Wild Cherry and Iron Butterfly also. They were pretty good but there is a reason they were one hit wonders.

The Beatles knew when to quit...the Stones didn't.Both were brilliant for the first five years or so of their existence but ran out of ideas.

The thought of Mick Jagger prancing around the stage at 70 would be laughable if it wasn't so disgusting.

If anyone gets a chance to go see Paul McCartney these days, do, he’s certainly great in concert. I felt as if I saw the Beatles, well, nearly.

Saw McCartney in concert 3 or 4 years ago, free tix, really wasn't expecting much but was blown away at how good the concert was. So many concerts have performers going thru the motions but McCartney built a great rapport with the audience and the whole band looked like they enjoyed entertaining us.

As for Beatles live, saw them back in the 60s and Keith is right, played their songs with little to none in the way of showmanship. Stones were much better live.

Saw alot of mention of the Dead, while their music was good in concert, the fans were the worst. Worked alot of concerts at RFK stadium / DC area and dealing with the Dead groupies was the pits; dirty, thieving azzhats.

They played well on the roof of Apple back in 1969. Or was it just another hoax?

I was at a Beatle concert (1964 I think it was) at the stadium in Atlanta. You can imagine the sound system in a stadium back in those days, not good sound. Add to that the screaming and audience singing along, and the music was virtually chaos. LOL. The thrill was that we were there with the Beatles live on stage. The sound was immaterial to the young crowd.

Contrast this with the Beachboys concert I went to that same year, indoors, different audience, there to hear the music, instead of just there to party and scream.

Both bands fantastically talented, but the venues and audience definitely made a difference in sound quality.

Yes was great live, but Rush gets my vote...tightest live
band I have ever seen...if you closed your eyes at the
concert, you would have thought you were listening to
the album with crowd noise added...
