How Trump Can Heal the Rift (Vanity)
Jewbacca's Brain ^ | 7/21/2016 | Jewbacca

Posted on 07/21/2016 7:14:33 AM PDT by Jewbacca

I believe it is Trump's obligation, as the victor, to be the bigger man and do his part to heal the rift in the party, regardless of who one believes to be fault. That's just the way these things work. The victor must be a good winner.

Here's what he should work into his speech:

"You know, I've always enjoyed watching Ted Cruz take it to the powers-that-be in Washington. He's a man of deep conservative principles --- and a complete pain in the ass.

I don't enjoy it much when he's a pain in my ass.

But he's OUR pain in the ass.

And he's right about one thing in particular --- and said the most important thing you've heard at this convention --- vote for the man who will uphold the Constitution, believes in liberty and freedom, and who will return this fine country to greatness.

Well, I give my word to Ted, and I give my word to you. Indeed, I swear by G-d, on my life and the life of my children and grandchildren, that I will uphold the Constitution. I believe in liberty and freedom, and I will return this fine country to greatness."

The result would be a healing of the rift, the NeverTrumpers would shut up, and Cruz and Trump could work together, which they will need to do.

It’s like the last hard-headed Cruz people on FR are so tone-deaf that they rather keep talking...

Yep......mumbling. They never stop mumbling.

Amen, Amen, and Amen! It’s Trump’s job as nominee to draw voters to himself, to demonstrate bold colors and show a clear vision for America. People will be attracted to THAT, not to some mealy-mouth, nicey-nice, hands-across-the-aisle to the losers.

Let the losers come to the winner.

Yeah, I don’t care for the personal attacks.

These are serious times and serious issues. The beer hall “F—’em” mentality will lose the election.

I think the crux of the matter is that Cruz believes in his heart he still has a campaign of sorts. I think that’s delusional and that whatever negotiations or meetings Trump may have had were not based on Trump believing otherwise of Cruz.

That’s great and all.

How do you propose reaching out to the 20% hold out Republicans?

Are you in the “F-’em, we don’t need ‘em” camp?

Or do you have a better idea?

So will being Mr. "Reach across the aisle". People are thirsting for a leader, not Mr. Rogers.

That’s a losing strategy, even though many of the NeverTrumpsters probably cannot be redeemed.

Any big rifts should have been worked out before the convention. But apparently, too many big egos are involved all the way around.

“People are thirsting for a leader”

One of the few sayings I remember from officer school in the IDF was a leader is someone who can get people to do what they don’t want to do.

Here, we are discussing the 20%. I disagree that they are unwinnable. Apparently you consider them a lost cause. That’s fine. We disagree.

I desire them to vote against Hillary, and have proposed a possible strategy.

Agreed, and if Trump wish to make some behind the scenes reach out and try to win over Cruz quietly, do be it.. let him use some back channels to try to work that angle if he wants, and if he can work it out, and stand on a stage with Cruz later in the campaign so be it, but he shouldn’t waste his breath publicly on naming a single one of those who have snubbed him.

From this point forward, other than thanking those former candidates who have given him their support, Trump should not utter any other candidates name other than Hillary Clinton, as he starts his general election campaign in earnest and start to truly unload with both barrels on her and Obama for the next 4 and a half months or so.

I agree.

But the consensus here is to have a purge and let Hillary win.

Nice strawman you have there. Where we disagree is your 20%. You hang on to that percentage dearly as if your life depended on it. It's a false number.

But stay in your delusion. The actual number of Cruzites who will never vote for Trump is closer to 0.1%. And any businessman will tell you it's a lost cause to expend too much energy in trying to win that tiny number over.

You want to keep thinking it's 20%, be my guest.

He answers that if you put me in I’m going to throw two interceptions on purpose.
In the example nothing was seen as the QB#2 saying he was going to sabotage the game. Did the Coach know that #2 was an A—hole? Mabe so?
*******
my answer would be who’s the coach?
Are you saying that “Coach T. should not have put him in?
Maybe the Coach wanted to give #2 the chance to prove he was not a Rat!
********
Coach let all other 17 QBs compete in the Spring training and they could not cut it. Some came to and supported the game some
didn’t! I give more credit to those who stayed out of the spotlight, than #2.

Exactly. Cruz wants another primary building up to the debates. And in the meantime get Gary Johnson up to 15% and on the debate stage.

The people who want to push the false narrative that “we have to win over these 20%’ers!” will justifiably be ignored by those who know better. It’s similar to the false narrative pushed by the hockey-puck global warming “scientists”.

To use inaccurate data as a starting point for any argument is not only wrong, it’s shameful.

Pay no attention. The deluded Cruzlims just want to talk about Cruz and rain on Trump’s big day. I’ve haven’t seen a more bitter America hating mob since the last BLM riot.
