I think Primer is a really good movie, but darned if I can explain it without a flow chart. Hell I probably couldn’t with a flow chart.

In Bruges and Calvary were two fairly good ones I saw recently. The Witch was a really good take on witches and puritans/pilgrims.

There was never a bad movie with Matthau in it.

If you like offbeat, character studies based on real life with some black humor, try Bernie. It stars Jack Black, Matthew McConaughey and Shirley MacLaine. It takes place in Carthage (East Texas). Being a native Texan I was amazed how true to life many of the characters were...until the end when I found that many were not actors but actual residents of Carthage. Even the actors nailed their performances. It has a semi-documentary quality but that only adds to the flavor.

Some of the quotes from the locals will have you rolling on the floor: "Those folks think a gourmet meal is fried mudcat with warm beer." (You may have to be from East Texas to know what mudcat is.) :)

It's currently running on Netflix.

Sicario was really good, it had a True Detective vibe to it.

It’s now my favorite movie, and you would have to see it to get the context of why I used the term:seeing-eye bitch. It’s a hilariously touching movie, if there are such a thing anymore. BTW, my paternal grandmother was born in Volhynia, southwest of Kiev in a town named Blumenthal. It no longer exists because of the war. P. S. The soundtrack is excellent, and can be dowloaded from youtube.

I have an internal clock when it comes to movies. Once I hit and hour and 50 minutes you best be in Gone With the Wind
territory. If not, you have 5 minutes to wrap things up before you lose me as a viewer.

I liked Oblivion as well, maybe not as good as EoT but still a well crafted flick.
Cruise may be a Moonbat but he picks pretty good flicks to star in.

I believe it’s a true story, or based on one at least.

There was something like it on Investigation Discovery-I forget which show though.

Don’t want to mention it for a THIRD time here but did you ever see Donnie Darko?

A great time travel flick.

Although I am not a fan of Ashley Judd, she made a movie a few years ago which struck me as deserving far more credit than it received.

It was “Ruby In Paradise”. I saw it on one of the TV networks. It might be more than 10 years old tho.
