Lovely but they look heavy.
Reminds me a bit of the hat code. If you wore your hat with the brim straight you were married, if your hat was worn with the brim tilted back you were a widow, to the left single and looking, to the right single and not looking.
In country market towns it made it easy to tell who you could approach and who was off limits.
