He is godfather to a future king, and now owns a large chunk of the most exclusive parts of London. At just 25, Hugh Richard Louis Grosvenor, who has become the 7th Duke of Westminster after the sudden death of his 64-year-old father on Tuesday, will inherit a family fortune estimated by American business magazine Forbes at about £9bn, and the ancestral seat Eaton Hall in Cheshire.
Though the third of four siblings, the duke, previously known by the honorary title Earl Grosvenor, is the only son of the late Duke of Westminster and his wife, Natalia.
Little is publicly known of the former student of countryside management at Newcastle University. His family guarded his privacy as he was growing up as heir apparent to the vast fortune, which now makes him the third wealthiest landowner in the UK, and, according to Forbes, the 68th wealthiest person in the world.

I would still drink Budweiser. In fact, I'd buy the whole damned company. 7 course meal every night - 6 pack and a Twinkie. Maybe a burrito for variety.
I cannot imagine what I could or would do with all that wealth. Sure there are a few oddball vehicles I'd like - Mercedes Unimog among them. Probably would get a large building and fill it with classic machine tools, make it a working museum. Classic firearms would be cool.
I'd also start some legal/investigative fund and see if we couldn't get the goods on some corrupt politicians and government lackeys. And their corporate backers. That would be fun.

Re: Genealogical Powerball- I could give all that money away today if I could have ten minutes again with my passed Mom.
What does the wife get? She ain’t dead yet!
Most of its in real estate and tied up in trusts.
If the family was smart, he'll have an allowance and be unable to cash the investments in.
If they're even smarter, they'll make him work before he gets his hands on the allowance.
That leaves drugs, though, and plenty of today's young aristocrats do themselves in that way.
His dad and mom were/are responsible aristocrats
Beloved actually....did lots of good
got to meet Gene Chandler.
I beg the taxman cometh.
Cool!
I want to be the Duke of Earl of Sandwich.
I am sure she is provided for. But the major part of the lands and money would be tied to the title.
With a dab of horseradish?
I want to be Earl of Hines. Fatha of the Keys.
Doesn’t everyone know about Dowager Duchesses and the Dower House and the widow’s settlement and all that? Don’t these people read historical novels?
Which is prime among the reasons that two years ago, I was saying
No more Kennedys
No more Carters (Jimmy’s grandson was running for gov)
No more Nunns (Sam’s daughter Michelle was running for Senate)
No more Bushes
No more Clintons
I still feel that way.
Well... maybe a few other people.
I packed up a bunch of historical novels today to mail to some ladies and gentlemen who are house bound for one reason or another. I started doing it for one lady and she apparently recommended the store to all her friends.
I'm cheaper then Amazon. :)
A fresh pack of Lucky’s and a mint called Sen-Sen.
Good for you! I’m working on the complete works of Georgette Heyer, having been reminded of her by a book about Jane Austen fandom. (”Among the Janeites,” very amusing.) I think Ms. Heyer’s novels were too long and complex for me in my early teens, when I picked up Barbara Cartland, and I just didn’t try again until I was 50.
I can think of many more current authors who imitate Ms. Heyer’s plot elements. She’s brilliant with the mass confusion farcical climax scene. Sure, why not include ducklings? Everyone loves those!
I also enjoy PG Wodehouse, Ogden Nash and, of course, Dame Agatha Christie.
I sometimes think I was born in the wrong era.
Cartland's early books were rather good.
Right now I am reading Rhys Bowen "Her Royal Spyness" series.
