Dozens of Republicans to urge RNC to cut off funds for Trump
Politico ^ | Aug 11, 2016 | Anna Palmer

More than 70 Republicans have signed an open letter to Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus urging him to stop spending any money to help Donald Trump win in November and shift those contributions to Senate and House races.

The letter comes as a number of Republican senators and high-profile GOP national security officials have come forward saying they cannot vote for Trump.

“We believe that Donald Trump’s divisiveness, recklessness, incompetence, and record-breaking unpopularity risk turning this election into a Democratic landslide, and only the immediate shift of all available RNC resources to vulnerable Senate and House races will prevent the GOP from drowning with a Trump-emblazoned anchor around its neck,” states a draft of the letter obtained by POLITICO. “This should not be a difficult decision, as Donald Trump’s chances of being elected president are evaporating by the day.”...

Republican Andrew Weinstein, a vocal anti-Trump Republican, is one of the operatives organizing the letter, which began circulating earlier this week and is expected to be sent next week.

Politico coordinates with the DNC what they want published.

From ABC to CBS, from the nyt to the lat. These so called msm protect and defend the Democrat candidate.

Baraq 0bama and Hillary Clinton are just the most recent.

It’s really a good thing. Shows their true colors. Voters need to remember and clean house.

Are these people really so stupid that they don’t understand the only thing they’re doing is helping to bring an end to the Republican party? The RNC already has a written money-sharing agreement with Trump, so nothing they say will change that. All they are doing is alienating the 45% of Republican voters who supported Trump in the primaries and the much higher level than that who want him to beat Hillary in Nov. By stabbing regular Republican voters in the back, they are making it very hard to ever vote for an establishment Republican again.

If they had sucked it up like we did with Romney and McCain, then the party could have continued on like usual, but by trying to destroy the choice of the people, these establishment figures are bringing on the final fracture and death of the GOP. That may turn out to be a good thing if we are lucky and a better party quickly replaces it, but it may just result in long-term Democrat one-party rule.

Much as I understand your hope for revenge through this method, a President Trump will need the support of Congress. Please reconsider. Just hold your nose and vote R for the sake of not voting D. They aren't even Democrats any more. They are communists.

"....and record-breaking unpopularity......states a draft of the letter." A draft is a document written but not sent. Anyone could have written the draft. Judging by the hyperbole and untruths it could well have been Politico, manufacturing a story.

I agree that we should wait and see their final masterpiece before forming final opinions. But it's good to get a little warmed up, in the off chance Reince Preibus has an RSS feed that captures any articles about the RNC. He needs to hear from the grassroots. That'd be us.

Is anyone on FR good enough with math to figure out what % of 55 million Republicans is 70 losers signing this letter?

It’s some infinitesimal fraction of 1%. I know that.

Haha...70 GOPe sore losers want to destroy the Republican Party.

Someone on one of the threads about the guy who tried to climb Trump Tower said that the self-esteem movement in the schools is responsible for this narcissistic behavior we see all around us. People have lost all sense of perspective and scale.

Please, don’t vote Dem. The Dems are destroying this country and stand for everything we don’t. If you can’t in good conscience vote for the GOPe bozos, vote third party or leave the rest of the ballot blank. You don’t have to vote for the lesser of two evils, but come on, you shouldn’t vote for the greater of two evils either. What have the Dems done to deserve your vote? Why should you help them and their left-wing agenda? There are other options.

Most of Mrs. Bill’s die-hard backers don’t go to rallies of this kind. But they’ll be around Nov. 8 to safeguard “the democracy”.

he CIA who thinks it is ok for Hillary to handle our most sensitive intelligence information with criminal negligence.

The CIA and especially the State Dept were ruined by the insertion of hacks during the Bill Clinton years, and never recovered. It's good that these people are coming out of the closet. It's just a shame for them that the Soviet Union is so, like, over. They could have bought a romantic fur hat and long pelt coat and defected.

Most of her die hard backers are in our party. They like her so much they are demanding Trump quit the race. They are saying he is unstable etc. Most democrats have no enthusiasm for her but many gop politicians praise her daily and look forward to working with her as President, when Trump wins his inauguration will not be attended by either Bush. You know that.

What these anti-Trump RINOs don't understand is that conservative Republicans have held their noses, kept their mouths shut, and supported and voted for guys like Romney for years.

Now those same RINOs have shown us that they are unwilling to do what they have asked us to do for years.

Any Republican candidate who isn't out there working from Trump's election should assume they won't get any support from fellow Republicans. And that particularly applies to Republican elected officials who couldn't be bothered to attend the Republican convention, like Sen. Kelly Ayotte.

If those Republicans expect any votes from conservatives in November they better get to work supporting the Republican presidential ticket. Or start planning on what they are going to be doing after they aren't a senator, governor or representative any more.
