He had a $20.5 million contract, but is now out of the league — and millions of dollars...

“I looked at my bank statement and thought, ‘where did this come from?’ they took advantage of me,” he said of his friends and family members.

They had paid for 11 Netflix accounts and eight Hulu accounts in his name. They also made many purchases on Amazon and charged him for bottle service at bars.

Why have 11 different Netflix accounts? You can stream on 4 devices at the same time in HD and 4K for $12/month. You can register unlimited devices.

People who spend every penny they can get their hands on the minute they get their hands on it will never have "wealth" no matter how much OPM* you steal and give to them.

What’s “bottle service” at a bar?

Does it have anything to do with babies?

That is so true it is not funny, especially those who come across money easily. I’m 53, I knew 2 people personally in my life who won the lottery jackpot - I’m talking about the JACKPOT, millions of dollars - and both of them were flat broke within 5 years, FIVE freakin years! And that is not a fluke, it happens all the time to people. They win millions of dollars and they go spend crazy as if they won unlimited money. That’s why people should always avoid taking a lump sum and allow the state to pay in installments unless they are very very experienced in handling money. People who have never had a lot of money before go absolutely freakin crazy when they do.

“bottle service”

private VIP room or lounge where you can get an overpriced bottle of good hooch set down at your table and pour your own or a private server I suppose.

They did not always make big bucks.

I worked with two old former NFL guys.

One played one year; no teeth and lots of scars.
And he still had toothaches! Called ‘phantom pain’.

The other played many years, had all his teeth and good health, no money from football.
When asked about the money, he said they were seldom actually paid! (1930’s)
They hitchhiked from game to game! Even when they were given ‘carfare’ he called it, they still hitchhiked!

My 3 sisters went thru their inheritance.
My youngest sister spent all in 9 months of parties. Once the money was gone no more parties. I still have mine as I bought stock.

This is so sad. Young athletes with NO understanding that all those zeros on a few pay checks don’t equate to an endless supply of cash. A lot of them fall victim to either their own stupidity or to family and friends and the inability to tell them “no”. It’s the same entitlement attitude we see with regard to government handouts. These people believe they are entitled to these athletes’ earnings, just because they know them.

Eh, they’re pikers. Dane Cook’s brother (B-I-L?) embezzled something like $10M, or that’s what I heard on Dennis Miller a few years back.

Bottle service has to do with *babes*. Purchase of wine/champagne/liquor by the bottle, reserved tables, hot bar wenches. Good way to blow embarrassing amounts of money.

Chuck Muncie did not die broke. He did one thing right in his life. He bought land in California with his rookie bonus. He was not able to snort it up his nose.

You are so correct.

Young Freepers, please listen to my cautionary tale:

I grew up poor with six brothers and sisters. We didn’t have much. In my late 20s, I accumulated some money and lost my mind. I had never had money, and getting it was not the hardest part, KEEPING IT IS!

I spent recklessly, accumulated debt, but by far the worst thing that I did was develop a compulsive gambling habit. I gambled only on sports, and would bet up to 5k a game depending on what was going on.

Long story short, after bankruptcy and a nearly destroyed relationship with someone very close, I am just now getting my life back on track.

Everyone says: If I won the lottery, I’d never blow it. But those are the people standing behind you in line to buy the ticket with their six pack and cigs. Also, as for the insinuation that blowing money only applies to black athletes, not true. I am a white male with a law degree and post-grad level academics.

Beware. Getting the money is easy, keeping it is hard.

I don’t know anything about stock, but I do know how to run a small business, like a convenience store. Not a lot of money, but it is steady.
