Just got this photo layout on Maine Coon Cats.
Majestic is an understatement!
Kitty Freepers enjoy,,,,others too
I have a Ragdoll as well.
She is simply the best cat I have ever owned. Well behaved, clean, loving, but not a pain in the arse.
Cat’s waycisst!...........
That is adorable.
I want one.
That is a nice looking cat. Pure Maine Coon?
They think they are dogs, and the dogs think so too ;-)
What a beauty.
Ping.
My sister had a pure bred Maine Coon. The sweetest thing ever.
I’m not really a cat person, but even I’ll have to admit that the Maine Coon cat is a handsome beast. If I were to have a cat, it would be my pick.
Our cat is not a Maine Coon, but got very fat. The vet had her on diet food, and she still got fatter. The trick was to get a timed automatic feeder. Before the feeder, she would convince each of the three of us in the house that she had not been fed, so she was often getting 3x the food she should have.
They look like satanic majesties! They have huge chins.
The article and photographs just down from that has ‘cats from underneath’ which is interesting.
Oddly, not far from my rural northeast Alabama home and church is a place specializing in Maine Coon cats. It’s called the Backwoods Kennel and Cattery and it is, indeed, backwoods. My 15 year old house cat died a couple of weeks ago, and I’d dearly love either a ragdoll or a Scottish Fold to replace him, but both are too expensive. He was a stray kitten, so like Janis Joplin wanted the Lord to send her a Mercedes, I want Him to send me a new stray.
Her’s not obese; her’s just FLUFFY!!!
We “inherited” 2 Maine Coons. They are very dog like, even running to see who’s at the door, just like the dog does. We had worries at first that our Weim might injure them, but one’s strategy was to hide, the other went nose to nose with the Weim, and a truce seems to have been negotiated.
Ours weighs 21 lbs. They are big.
I was staying at a bed and breakfast in Medford (Oregon) in 1992 where the owner had a Maine coon cat. That cat was huge! It was a sweetheart, but I wouldn’t have wanted to meet it in a dark alley.
We have two cats -— a regular calico and a tortoiseshell. My daughter moved in with a pastel double-pawed tortoiseshell and a calico long haired Maine Coon. Lots of attitude here!!
But the Maine Coon is the most loving, most friendly, most trusting cat I have ever seen! And I have had cats all my life. The thing is — there is just air in where her brain is supposed to be. There is absolutely nothing upstairs! She does know when it is time to open a can of cat food, and she almost comes running when she sees the fur brush, but otherwise she is the most unthinking cat I have ever seen. All the cats are indoor cats, but they react when they see birds and squirrels at the door and windows close to the feeding stations. This Maine coon? Yawn. Maybe a little jump, but it just doesn’t register with her.
And she (Muff Puff) is the gift that keeps on giving when it comes to her fur!!!! It is all over and tho I try to brush her often, the fur just keeps on coming. My daughter is in the hospital right now, and I’m saving all the fur in a bag to show her what I’ve collected. I could make a pillow out of it!!
Stanley Steemer just left after a total house carpet shampooing, and there are still little bits of fur lying here and there! All gifts for me!!
She is a show quality Maine Coon, with plenty of double champions and grand champions etc. in her pedigree. She is about 12 lbs., with 2.5" paws.
For my felinophile FRiends, this is the "sister" (no actual relation) of little Ciel who died just a month ago. I am still so grateful for all the cat support I received here while we were trying to save her and after her death. I donated to FR double in honor of all of you.
