“I speak jive” should have ranked much higher. I blame political correctness on the part of the reviewers.

I remember when “Airplane” was released telling my husband that it would be a flop because “that actor that never smiles” was in it,meaning Nielson,of course.
He had always been cast as a serious,successful.grim,man-in-charge type.
Boy,was I wrong.

Semi-spoiler: the actress who played the "I speak Jive" lady...
was none other than Barbara BIllingsley -- Beaver Cleaver's mother.

I think my favorites are, in no particular order...
- Have you ever seen a grown man naked? Do you like gladiator movies?
- The lovers quarrel over the airport loudspeaker.
- I can make a hat, a broach, a pterodactyl!
- The jive translator.
- I picked a bad week to quit....
- The whole Kareem exchange. It really was a brilliant cameo.

They missed an opportunity. At the end, they should have had Howard Jarvis get on the radio and try to get another cab. Then the dispatcher gets on and says, ‘Sir, what are trying to do?’ Howard says, ‘I’m trying to raise taxis.’

I loved the movie. I often wonder if Airplane or Blazing Saddles (for example) could be made today.
I miss the days when we could make fun of ourselves.

They get a FAIL.
They left out some of my most endearing part of the movie. During the interludes between all the funny stuff they would jump to a external shot of the plane flying in the night sky, and its clearly a modern jumbo jet, but the noise is from a multi engine prop driven plane. Then change scenes and tell another joke.

There are 2 kinds of people in this world. Those who think Airplane is funny and those who don’t. I married a “don’t” . ... sigh...

118. Elaine re-inflates the autopilot.
#118? No way! That has to be in the top 10.

I think I’d have put the Kareem jokes and the “grown man naked” stuff first.
Funniest laugh out loud movie ever made.
