Yep, loved my 2013 Mustang before I sold it but it’s a completely different experience than a big block muscle car.

The two small scoops or nacelles on the front fenders are non-functional, the only purpose they served was to increase wheel clearance for NASCAR. Despite being very similar in appearance, the Plymouth Superbird and the Dodge Charger Daytona 500 required very different execution. Neither the nose cone nor the wing is interchangeable. The Dodge is the rarer of the two, only 500 or so produced vs. around 1,900 for the Plymouth, and there was much more leeway in ordering the Dodge new, as far as engine, interior and wheels. All the Superbirds have a vinyl top. Very few Daytonas did, it was available as a dealer installed option. They sprayed them on.

Yes. My 2016 blows the doors off the old big blocks while handling and braking only dreamed of back then.

AC, navigation, wifi, Bluetooth AND 27 mpg on the highway.

My neighbor had a new Superbird when I was a kid. I could have driven it if I had just asked, but I never did ask......just DARN!

I’ll stick with my ‘68 Mercury Cyclone thank you.

That 429 Cobra Jet was one HELL of a motor!

Tried, all I get is a bigger pic of the car. Something must be turned off for videos on Firefox.

Something about the old big blocks with all the torque available at the low end .... :-)

Superbird with 426 Hemi
0 - 60 mph 5.6 s
1/4 mile 13.5 s @ 105.0 mph

2016 Mustang without supercharger
0 - 60 mph 4.6 s
1/4 mile 13.0 s @ 112.0 mph

I am ok with a little less bottom end torque.

” His wife heard the story for the first time when he told me they topped out at 190 mph.”

With a 150 mph speedometer how did they clock the speed?

My brother bought a 1968 Dodge Superbee his first week back from Vietnam. It was 1 of only 7 made by Dodge. He still has the letter from them offering to sponsor his racing, if he chose too, but sadly, his wife couldn’t drive it and then his 2 kids came along...Fastest car I have ever been in.

“My brother bought a 1968 Dodge Superbee his first week back from Vietnam. It was 1 of only 7 made by Dodge.”

Dodge produced almost 8,000 SuperBees in 1968 and over 100 of them were 426 Hemi’s.

“Fastest car I have ever been in.”

(Most SuperBees were 383’s)

1969 Plymouth Road Runner (Speed & Supercar)

426ci/425hp, 3spd auto, 4.10, 0-60 - n/a, 1/4 mile - 13.32 @ 107.65mph
