WEEKLY GARDEN THREAD SEPTEMBER 9, 2016
freerepublic | Sept. 9, 2016 | greeneyes

Posted on 09/09/2016 5:47:48 PM PDT by greeneyes

The Weekly Gardening Thread is a weekly gathering of folks that love soil, seeds and plants of all kinds. From complete newbies that are looking to start that first potted plant, to gardeners with some acreage, to Master Gardener level and beyond, we would love to hear from you. This thread is non-political, although you will find that most here are conservative folks. No matter what, you won’t be flamed and the only dumb question is the one that isn’t asked. It is impossible to hijack the Weekly Gardening Thread. Planting, Harvest to Table(recipes)preserving, good living - there is no telling where it will go and... that is part of the fun and interest. Jump in and join us! NOTE: This is a once a week ping list. We do post to the thread during the week. Links to related articles and discussions which might be of interest are welcomed, so feel free to post them at any time.

Sounds like a good deal to me too.

Thanks for all the pics. I look forward to seeing them each week. I have taken a real liking to Yukon Gold Potatoes. I’ll be planting some more next year.

I missed out on my daughter’s peaches too.

Well, mine was based on symptoms, but no testing so I’m taking the opinion with a grain of salt.

I am the same when it comes to fixing the house in Springfield, but I am always too cheap to hire it done and keep fooling myself into thinking that next year we will have more time.

Thank you. It is very tedious formatting and posting the photos on FR. Facebook is a breeze but I understand why Jim R requires it this way...

I have never heard that you have to have a different apple tree for pollination - just that you need a pair.

This is by far the best of the forums when it comes to discussion between members. I once posted some pics with lots of help here, but I don’t even try facebook or anything else for pics. Rarely post anywhere but here, though I do some lurking now and again elsewhere.

I still don’t know how I mastered posting photos here and it used to be harder but Flickr gives you the html code and all you to is choose the size and copy the html and post it. (OK there is more to it than that)

Got a 5th one for $2.50 when I was out doing the shopping.

Found two more bags of Bone Meal for less than 1/2 price. Grabbed both of them, too.

With the fake money being printed, figure gardening will be a constant way to take up some slack. Once the next crop of tomatoes come in, it will be all good there. They’ve about paid for themselves then.

Waiting to see how many carrots I get out of the 100 plants or so - that are WAY too close. Could get interesting.
