The 49er Faithful are already being tested. With a shortage of talent and a brutal schedule on tap, the 2016 team is projected to be the worst in a long, long time. It seems some fans are already jumping ship.
As of Monday morning, tickets to the opening night game against the Los Angeles Rams were offered for under $50 on the ticket resale site StubHub, $40 (plus fees) on the team's official resale partner, TicketMaster. Compare that to the cheapest individual seat for season ticket holders, $85, and you have a massive discount for the first game of the season.
The pain is even worse for VIP ticket holders who paid $20,000 or more for the right to buy their season tickets. Seats that cost $350 each after the licence were being offered for nearly $200 off the ticket price on resale websites.
The low demand continues a steady decline in demand for tickets to 49er home games. By November of last season it was easier to spot seats than spectators at some games. The frustration was evident last time SFGate wrote about the ticket discounts.
"A team that operates the way the Niners have been don't deserve people to show up," wrote one Facebook commenter.

Besides the drop in the ticket sales what will hurt best is drop in ratings. Just don’t watch. Watch college football or something, less prima donnas there anyway, more true sport. These people don’t have moral sensibilities so hit hem in the pocket book which is all they will understand.

i spent a 3 day weekend in Glendale (Denver, Colorado) at the rugby stadium watching Rugby 7s tournament. 52 matches, teams from all 5 military services, RAF, British army and other teams from the US and overseas. 50m line seats all 3 days. cost for the entire time including food and drinks $50. no BS on the field, respect from players, coaches, refs, fans and country. championship was Denver vs home team Glendale who lost by one try (score). fast paced, inexpensive and more fun to watch than NFL.

Our neighbor from Pacifica & grew up 49r fan..came over tonight before game & said all his friends/family (who still live up there) disgusted with Kap. Did you watch the pre-game? Media made sure to show the one or two “fans” that asked for his autograph.

TV, radio and stadium advertising rates should go down, since viewing will drop as well.
Any firm which still pays these losers to endorse their products ought to bail out like yesterday.
As a consumer, I am in full boycott mode. My estimate is the teams will learn immediately that we don’t just constitute a small group.
To these wealthy elite thug athletes, we are “deplorables,” anyway. They shouldn’t miss us, and we shouldn’t support them any longer.

Sad. NFL fans are the best fans. Going to Levis Stadium for a 49er game requires tons of sacrifices: long wait lines to exit the parking lot at the end of the game and expensive food and drinks.
One slight and put down of the fans by management will cause a exodus. Just look at Target and Macy’s: boring and sterile stores.

Why Americans are willing to pay anybody millions of dollars a year to PRODUCE NOTHING is completely beyond me.
I know I will take heat for this, but I have absolutely no use, nor desire to waste my time on any professional sport played by a bunch of steroid propelled, spoiled brats, that may be big and over 18 years old, but never managed to mature beyond the mental age of a three year old.
