Clinton campaign: Yes, world has 'right' to immigrate to U.S.
Washington Examiner ^ | 9/22/2016 | Byron York

Do people around the world have a right to move to the United States? It's a bedrock belief of most conservatives that there is no such right. The U.S. sets its own immigration policy, admits whom it chooses, and foreign nationals in foreign countries have no right — a claim that could be pursued in court — to enter the United States.

Now, Hillary Clinton says there is such a right, at least if a tweet from her campaign headquarters can be taken for a policy pronouncement.

This is what happened. In his Monday speech on terrorism and immigration, Donald Trump said, "We want people to come into our country, but they have to come in legally, through a process… No one has a right to immigrate to this country. It is the job of a responsible government to admit only those who expect to succeed and flourish here and really be proud of what they've done and where they came from. They have to love our country."

In that quote was the fundamental principle: There is no right to immigrate to the United States.

If we did that it would show the world that as a nation, our “love” is not necessarily unconditional.

There’s legal immigration and then there’s illegal sneaking in and over staying your welcome.

Not only not near Chappaqua, not near the Clintons home - and the Obamas future home - in Washington, DC. In the Zip Code where the Obamas will be living after 1/20/17 you won’t find an illegal or a poor black unless it’s someone in the ‘hood to mow their grass or clean their toilets.

Here’s how the first Congress viewed immigration, in 1790:

http://www.indiana.edu/~kdhist/H105-documents-web/week08/naturalization1790.html

“An act to establish an uniform Rule of Naturalization” (March 26, 1790).

“Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America, in Congress assembled, That any Alien being a free white person, who shall have resided within the limits and under the jurisdiction of the United States for the term of two years, may be admitted to become a citizen thereof on application to any common law Court of record in any one of the States wherein he shall have resided for the term of one year at least, and making proof to the satisfaction of such Court that he is a person of good character, and taking the oath or affirmation prescribed by law to support the Constitution of the United States, which Oath or Affirmation such Court shall administer, and the Clerk of such Court shall record such Application, and the proceedings thereon; and thereupon such person shall be considered as a Citizen of the United States.”

Look, the point is

1) Once upon a time immigrants could come in without much problem, they were generally VERY patriotic, and “they” is basically “us”.

2) The world has become a dangerous place by order of magnitude, so vetting or “extreme vetting” as Trump puts it, is necessary. Maybe closing off immigration from certain enemy hot spots like Syria “until we know what we’re doing” as Trump puts it.

3) I’m not convinced we have to shut down all immigration if we did the above. Common, we’re talking about a crazed Enemy in Chief who is endangering our county. Get him out and reverse his policies. Make America safe. I think we can do that without shutting off all legal immigration. So many good people still long for the freedom America promises and they are the ones who become our most loyal citizens.

Unfortunately, these legal immigrants are in the tenths of a percentage of those who really want to come here and embrace our nation.

Well, then maybe that's what "extreme vetting" will have to ferret out I suppose.

There'd be a billion people here in a week were we to suddenly lift restrictions to immigration to the country -
A - How do we accommodate all who want to come here without limits?
B - How do we order who gets to come first - the strongest? the most affluent? the most politically connected? - those who've given to the Clinton Foundation?......
There have to be some standards as to who when and how - and they must be enforced - no matter how Utopian your rhetoric....

Hey Democrats: if America is such an awful racist sexist etc., country, isn’t the height of cruelty to encourage anyone to come here?

This is the biggest threat to this nation that I’ve ever heard. A “right” for foreigners to come here????? I’m an immigrant, been here since ‘87 and became a citizen in 2000. While I’m very sympathetic for those that wish to come I NEVER assumed I had a “right” to any of it.

She will destroy this country.
