ObamaCare’s Meltdown Has Arrived
The Wall Street Journal ^ | 10/6/2016 | ANDREW OGLES and LUKE HILGEMANN

Tennessee is ground zero for ObamaCare’s nationwide implosion. Late last month the state insurance commissioner, Julie Mix McPeak, approved premium increases of up to 62% in a bid to save the exchange set up under the Affordable Care Act. “I would characterize the exchange market in Tennessee as very near collapse,” she said.

Then last week BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee announced it would leave three of the state’s largest exchange markets—Nashville, Memphis and Knoxville. “We have experienced losses approaching $500 million over the course of three years on ACA plans,” the company said, “which is unsustainable.” As a result, more than 100,000 Tennesseans will be forced to seek out new coverage for 2017.

BlueCross is only the latest insurer to head for the exits. Community Health Alliance, the insurance co-op established under ObamaCare, is winding down due to financial failure, leaving 30,000 people without coverage. UnitedHealthcare said in April it is departing Tennessee’s exchange after significant losses. That’s another 41,000 people needing new plans.

All told, more than 60% of our state’s ObamaCare consumers will lose their coverage heading into 2017. When they go in search of a replacement plan, they will confront two unfortunate realities: a dearth of options and skyrocketing costs.

One step closer to Single Payer System...and that was the plan from the very beginning.

Great timing, too. Just like the “financial abyss” just before the 2008 election.

Zero tried to stall the crash till after the election. Like almost everything else he attempted, it didn’t work.

Because the patients are there to take care of the exchanges, not the other way around. It’s all about the health of the program, not those it pretends to serve.

Hopefully if we hold Congress we won’t go single payer.

We can go back to free market, presumably with a socialist style safety net.

No. No apology.
I want to see the bastards hung. Their homes razed to the ground. Their surviving kin out on the street.
I do not care what the powers that be feel about it. They knew, as we all did, that this was the way to destroy healthcare.
It’s the only way to discourage this kind of cr_p from happening.

Like what the Italians did to Mussolini?

I was listening to an interview with Canadian economist Rob Kirby today, and he stated his sympathy for the American People, who are being held “hostage” by the Globalists who gained control of their gov’t, and hoped that we soon freed ourselves of these corrupt murderers.

“We can go back to free market, presumably with a socialist style safety net.”

I don’t want to hear about that “safety net”, until the federal budget is in the black and the deficit is in check...

Why a “socialist-style safety net?” The free market comes with a built-in safety net called the price mechanism. If consumers had complete freedom of choice among individualized, customized health plans, they could pick and choose the plan that suits their needs and pocket book. The elderly don’t need pregnancy coverage; the young don’t need just about anything.
This isn’t rocket science. Stop forcing people to pay for things they don’t need or want. Stop forcing people to pay for things that others need or want. Let’s go back to what was once called hospitalization-—affordable health insurance plans that covered surgeries, broken bones, and babies, and did not cover routine doctor visits and prescription drugs.

ATTACK THE ENEMY

On point.

Identify the US Healthcare Destroyers as hostile enemy.

Then send our military after them, military quick trials, shoot them, drone their abodes, cruise missile or bomb their businesses, ... send in marines and special forces.

No justice. No peace. Kill them.

I think the minute you bring up that prior-conditions have to be accepted....that’s the point where even the free-market system won’t be able to sustain this at the level that we would expect. Even with single-payer....what you’d eventually find is that people of a rural nature will have basically a clinic in their local area...NOT a hospital. States like Mississippi or Idaho...would probably see at least a quarter of their hospital operations shut down because there is no profit margin to make it worth continuing.

No socialist safety net... just have a 6% tax on services to pay for clinics set up in hospitals to treat non emergencies...

And illegals

wasn’t PROMOTING a social safety net, just predicting that’s what we’d go back to if R’s hold Congress with Trump as Prez

Listening to local radio tonight from Houston and there was a discussion about the timing of the increase in oil to slightly more than $50. The opinion was expressed that market manipulation by the current administration could shore up this commodity above the $50 threshold which would result in job increases. Therefore, people who were voting for Trump because of lost jobs in the oil patch would be hired back and would now vote for Hillary. Don’t see this happening in time to affect voting outcomes but who knows.
