I’m very very disappointed that there are Freepers who will refuse to boycott the NFL in light of their disrespect of the flag and those who died defending it.

You wanna know how many games I watched last week? None. But I can still participate in this fun thread trying to pick the game winners. No harm done. Get over it.

Hi Bendy.

In the fwiw dept, Steven Ross sucks swamp water, and hasn’t a clue how to run an NFL franchise.

He is a Richard Cranium.

At the risk of pouring gas on the fire instead of pissing out the flame, I point out if you look at the numbers, there are more than 1,850 players in the NFL on contract with the 32 teams--

Of those, perhaps at the most 100 (say a shade over 3 per team if any are) are actively kneeling or holding up their fists in protest during the playing of the National Anthem.

That means the remaining 99-plus per cent, 1,750 players, are not--

As much as what Colin Kaepernick & his maybe 99 fellow protestors disgust me and the others regular posters here on these NFL Live Threads, it is their legal right to do so. Neither I, Roger Goodell and his NFL henchmen or the US Constitution can prevent them from saying or demonstrating their beliefs.

Now if folks want to boycott the NFL for the actions of Colin and his crew, then do it. The TV ratings appear down because of people not watching because of the protests. Like the protestors, the Boycotters have the legal right to express their beliefs the same as Colin & cohorts.

You'd think this was basic Civics 101, wouldn't you?

I have no problem with the NFL Boycotters-- Yet when certain Boycotters on Free Republic demand that no one can disagree with their view, that leaves the Freedom of Speech right in the dust on a path straight to the political systems of-- Well, shall we say old Uncle Joe and Adolph. Yes, the Nazis and Communists we beat in World War Two and the Cold War. Or worse, the "Do or else" Threat is like today's Democrats Party Line right out of the leaked e-mails of Hillary and her supporters in and out of the main stream media, the Department of Justice and FBI!

So, when one gets on their high horse and demand we follow them in lockstep or else-- That just shows they are incredibly stupid about the rights under the US Constitution or they just do not care, being truly Nazi/Commie/Democrat/DOJ/FBI/ABC/MSNBC/CBS/CNN wolves in a Conservative sheep's clothing just awaiting a chance to leap out and make themselves Kings of the Thought Police with a license to kill and maim.

When there is no Free Speech, there is no freedom.

So, I have no shame in saying that I will continue to post these NFL Live Threads as long as I am able.

Yet I have to ask, since you have proven you do not know the first thing about the Right of Free Speech, do you 'Boycott the NFL or else!' FR posters have any shame at all?

I don't really follow you, Bendy (pipe fitter?), but I DO "read" your cartoons/illustrations (now that you've explained them to me).

Honestly, I can't understand why you're being inundated with negatives.

This is the most exciting election EVAH ! and why anyone would be on a forum board harassing you is beyond me.

Personally ... if I EVER attend a football game (very doubtful) and I see a player kneeling instead of standing, as a vet ... I will make my way on to the field (you'll probably have to bail me out) and pull the rebellious bastard up by the scruff of his shirt and scream like a D.I. .. "I PAID for this country and you WILL respect my effort !"

If someone does not like to laugh at our crazy world or the way I poke a stick at the insanity of it all, then come on down and jump on my rusty innards with all four hooves!

I only do it to satisfy my insatiable lust to laugh instead of crying my eyes out--

Of course, all the money... y'all send me helps--

AND all the groupie sex... seals the deal!

Neither I, Roger Goodell and his NFL henchmen or the US Constitution can prevent them from saying or demonstrating their beliefs.

Bit of a disagreement here Bendy.

1) I agree that you and I have no right to interfere with one's free expression of beliefs, however,

2) Roger Goodell and his NFL henchmen have every right and freedom to deal with the behavior of their employees. Employment is a voluntary exchange. Private enterprise and voluntary employment within private enterprise has nothing to do with government, which is what the Constitution is directly aimed at. No one forces the employee to stay and the employer has the right to set reasonable rules of behavior including showing respect for the American flag.

If Kaepernick & his maybe 99 fellow protesters don't like their employer's rules (if the NFL had the rules and enforced them), then they could leave and protest elsewhere as they wish, just not under a auspice of their employ in the NFL, which is what gives them much more influence and coverage than they would otherwise.

Don't forget, the Constitution is aimed at basically one thing: the federal government who has NO right to interference with free speech,

Meanwhile, a moment of silence for our beloved Giants who went down in flames for the season last night in the ninth inning. See you next year guys. AND GET SOME RELIEF PITCHING!!

I have no problem with Bender2’s NFL threads. They have been a tradition here for a long time and I’ve participated in them from time to time.

While the PC culture of the NFL has my own interest waning, I’m NOT going to be a busy body and tell someone else they can’t celebrate a long-time tradition here on FR.

I respect people’s rights to express themselves here on FR on both sides of this issue but this is a long-time tradition by Bender2. I respect his right to post these threads and still enjoy reading them.

I hope nothing I said was inferred otherwise. I get a kick out of these threads. In fact especially in the light of all the h*#se sh#t and phony self-righteous b/s, I’m encouraging Bendy not to give up the ship and give those ladies a hug with his mechanical arms for me.

My point in my previous post is similar to yours: people here and elsewhere are free to do what they want. But that ALSO includes private companies like the NFL - they also can do what they want and are free to set standards for their employees who in turn are free to leave if they don’t like it.

The only entity the Constitution forbids to interfere with our freedoms including free speech is the federal government.

I would agree with you if it was a hundred, eighty, sixty, forty or even 20 years ago, Jim--

But with the PC Culture and all its ramifications having been thrust down everyone throat the past two decades without much, if any, push back from Conservatives, Republicans or Libertarians, you do not have to image much to see sitting liberal judges finding for Colin or another of his ilk so that they either get a federal injunction to keep them employed and/or multi-mulit-millions of dollar settlements against the NFL.

That is what I intended when I wrote "Neither I, Roger Goodell and his NFL henchmen or the US Constitution can prevent them from saying or demonstrating their beliefs" with the inclusion of Rog and his crowd. They do not want a legal fight they do not see winning--

And if Hillary gets in, prepare to see it soon being mandatory for all of us to get down on one knee when the National Anthem is played.

I get you, and Hillary WON’T get in. Trump will win, but we ALL need to work as best we can to reinstate the Constitution as the law of the land against the feds which includes the federal courts.

My trust is in God, not man including Trump, to do this and I believe He will. The miracle of 1776 may be repeated here and even more so when we see this $4 trillion mostly unconstitutional federal government disintegrate to less that 20% of its present size, most of it being a strong military to protect us and to discourage our enemies. That is the main constitutional purpose of the federal government who needs to point their bayonets at our enemies not at us the American People.
