As I sat in the waiting area, there were seven other folks there. All were above 21, one white, two obvious Black and four obviously Latino but all of them were on their smartphones, merrily thumbing away--
The only conversation was either in Spanish between the Latinos or something I could not understand between the two Blacks guys as the mother tongue to my ear.
And the strange thing is this is becoming the norm--
No one communicates any more, they text-- Or they speak in languages not the Queen's nor any native English that I know of--
God help me, I am finding myself more and more in "The Twilight Zone" more and more each day.
So, now back to the Week 8 NFL Thread and the stark, solid reality of all the other folk here about condemning me to hell for even disagreeing with their demands I stop wasting time mentioning that the NFL plays games now and then. It is either I march in their parade of #never, ever, even speak of the NFL or drop dead--
So THAT’S why you communicate in pictorial hieroglyphics !. !
No, don’t let the SOB’s get you down, and KEEP ON TRUCKIN’ (wish I knew how to put up that great picture on this post to go with that saying).
I’m so glad I was too old I guess to get caught up that obnoxious fixation of looking at you cellphone all the time. I don’t even hardly use a cell phone and hardly ever take it with me. Only to take pictures usually and I NEVER use email and stuff on it. We have a landline at home - costs next to nothing and is very convenient.
What is particularity obnoxious to me is one-on-one supposed conversation or interaction at a restaurant table and one or both have their had buried in their cellphones.
If someone does that to me, I call them out. If they keep doing it, I won’t be meeting up with that person much anymore.
On a lighter note ...

Here’s my reply to those demanding you don’t post this thread:
First of all, Roger and certain of these owners are political fools who need to be taken down. Goodell is also a moron and, IMHO, a racist, who went after Brady to show the world he was not only against the black players.
Unfortunately, those black players had only committed crimes like assault, drugs, thuggery in general, wife beating—stuff that in the real world and you weren’t a big football star, would get you arrested and sentenced to jail. White or black, wouldn’t matter. So we’re supposed to think the stupid crap they pull is OK BECAUSE they’re black??? That’s much more racist than treating them like any other criminal. Stupid doesn’t begin to describe those who accused the NFL then for going after black players. They weren’t if thy are criminals. Throw their asses out.
Now in Brady’s case, the NFL already had a fine for football air pressure which was what $8,000 bucks or so?
But no, Goodell decided to play politics and go after him, “Hey sorry, Tom, just shut up and take it, cause I goot look tough against you for your skin color.” Even IF the balls are handled every play by the refs, and they never said a word, or Aaron admitting he liked ‘em extra hard, doesn’t matter, Brady has to pay to make the NFL look not racist.
So, now I want Brady to kick their asses by just winning every game. Wasn’t a big Pats fan until this all turned out. I don’t care if the Patriots are cheaters—all of the cheatin’ anyways is what they all do until caught. Is never made a difference if your team sucked. I know others can argue any other way on that, it won’t change my mind much that it is now visceral to me, Brady must win as a big FU to Roger.
On Kaepernick: He’s a total loser. I think it’s great to see his dopey brand of loser stupidity on display. Has anyone actually listened to what he’s saying? He’s an idiot! Nothing he says is factual or even makes sense. Boo his ass every time he shows his stupid puff head. He’s a freaking freak show in appearance alone, and when he opens his mouth he proves that even retards can get in the NFL.
Just as now I want to see Brady win every game, I want to see the Niners lose every game. Cheer AGAINST them everywhere they go. Boycotting all the NFL makes no sense in this regard. This dude and others of this thinking must be verbally accosted every time they go public. THAT is the way to get back at them.
And now, some football picks!
Thursday, Oct. 27
8:25 p.m. ET Jaguars at Titans Wow! What a great game to kick off the Week 8 competition! I think my sock drawer needs rearranging so I will miss the live broadcast. Nevertheless, a pick is required so... With two blah teams facing each other and no other logical basis to make a pick, take the home team. Titans.
Sunday, Oct. 30
9:30 a.m. ET Redskins at Bengals 'Skins saw their four-game win streak come to an end against the Lions last week, and now travel to London to face a surging Bungles squad. I like the Bungles to keep on surging. Bengals.
1 p.m. ET Chiefs at Colts Chiefs surprised me last week. I hope they surprise me again. Chiefs.
1 p.m. ET Raiders at Buccaneers Raiders traveled to Jacksonville last week and came away with a win. This week across the state they'll come away with another Florida win.... And continue their march to the playoffs! Raiders.
1 p.m. ET Seahawks at Saints Seahawks could hardly play a worse game than they did last week (although they came away with the tie)... They will need to score more than six points to win this week. Seahawks.
1 p.m. ET Lions at Texans You think I would have learned over the years... Don't count on Matthew Stafford! Nevertheless, I will go against my natural misgivings... Lions.
1 p.m. ET Jets at Browns The Browns will get their first (and maybe only!) win of the season this week. Browns.
1 p.m. ET Packers at Falcons Just when I think the Falcons are about to separate themselves from the rest of the NFC South, they stumble. Maybe they are just a .500 team... Likewise, just when I think the Packers have solved their offensive problems they stumble again. If this comes down to a shoot-out, I like Rodgers indoors at the Georgia Dome outshining Matt Ryan. Packers.
1 p.m. ET Patriots at Bills Rule Number 2: don't count on the Bills - beat the Patriots in New England; lose to Miami at Miami. Ugh. Pats will get payback for that loss. Patriots.
4:05 p.m. ET Chargers at Broncos Chargers have won.... two in a row?! And have already beaten the Broncos once....Can they achieve the season sweep and a three-game streak at the same time?! Nah...Broncos.
4:25 p.m. ET Cardinals at Panthers Panthers season is effectively over. Cardinals... well, I don't know what the heck is happening with them, but I think they'll get it together for a win. Cardinals.
8:30 p.m. ET Eagles at Cowboys Two rookie QBS face each other. I like Prescott and the 'Boys to best the Iggles. Cowboys.
Monday, Oct. 31
8:30 p.m. ET Vikings at Bears There's no better cure for laying an egg last week than facing the Bears this week. Vikings.
Good luck everyone!!!!

Vince Lombardi vs. Bill Belichick: Should title trophy be renamed?
"Which coach is more deserving of being the face of the Super Bowl trophy: the man in the suit and tie OR the one in the hoodie?"
Gadzooks and General Jackson-- Really?
Hey, as a Dallas Cowboys fan from day one of their existence, believe me, if any one should hate Vince Lombardi, it would be a Cowboys fan who was alive and watching when the Packers beat my Boys in the Cotton Bowl in 1966 and in the Ice Bowl in 1967--
However, as much as I hated the cursed Packers and their coach who embodied the "Winning is not everything, it is the only thing" philosophy, over the years I realized I had a grudging admiration for those Green and Gold guys who ran that power sweep ("Seal-- Seal-- Seal!") to perfection and the architect who brought the whole thing about in the 1960s glory days for Green Bay.
Now there was never, ever any hint of any kind that Vince Lombardi ever cut ethical corners or, shall we say, cheated to win a football game. That cannot be said about Bill Belichick and his organization.
Yes, Bill has won and continues to win in today's NFL but he will forever have an asterisk shadow beside his name, his team and their record. Just like all those guys who played baseball back in the steroid period, it taints them forever.
So, keep the Super Bowl Trophy clean and scandal free by keeping Vince Lombardi name on it.
That's from 1950's In a Lonely Place as Frank Lovejoy's Detective Seargent Brub Nicolai and friends help Bogie's Dixon Steele write out his prediction that the Texans will win.
Re: Dunno
That's Marilyn Monroe in Louis Calhern's lap from 1950's The Asphalt Jungle
And I have to finally admit... my Aggies got creamed by 'Bama.
So this weekend in college ball, only a few games really mean anything to me, so my Ags play New Mexico State in a game they should win easy--
Baylor, the last Texas team that is unbeaten with a shot at getting into the National Championship gig, plays their part in the Peoples Republic of Austin's Teasip's 'Good Bye Charlie' tour. The Bears should win and win easy also.
Navy plays the South Florida Bulls and should beat them but it will not be a pushover.
So, y'all talk amongst yourselves while I have some reading... to finish--
