'Coffee should not come with political brainwashing!' Anger at Starbucks over green 'unity' cups...
Daily Mail ^ | Nov. 2, 2016 | AP, Miranda Bryant

Posted on 11/02/2016 4:20:54 PM PDT by rickmichaels

An attempt by Starbucks to unify the country ahead of Election Day with a green coffee cup has backfired after angry customers threatened to boycott the chain.

The company said the cups - which were unveiled on Tuesday and feature a drawing of more than 100 people drawn with one line - were intended to remind Americans of their 'shared values' at a 'divisive time in our country'.

But the move appears to have angered rather than united customers. Some thought it had replaced the company's traditional red Christmas drinking vessels, while others accused the brand of pushing a political agenda.

Where did you get the “I love guns and coffee” cup?

I want one to give to a liberal relative!

There are many places one can get good coffee without a political statement. Easy to find those places too.

Hate to say, but probably most of the artisanal coffee places are just as liberal, if not weirder. At least here in New York. Nature of the beast, maybe.

I buy my coffee from some Orthodox Jews who started their own roasting company. Lately I've been avoiding a lot of places that attract hipsters like cats to catnip.

Same just north of you (Maine), but if you aren't really fussy, Dunkin' Donuts and even McDonalds. Try the local variety store or deli. Somebody close to you is making good coffee, at least as good as Starbucks.

***green ‘unity’ cups...***

Remember the ZPG (Zero population Growth) cups from forty five years ago?

Dammit, we do not have “shared values”. The US is a deeply divided nation. The question is, which values are moral, right, and in keeping with the Judeo-Christian foundational principles of the nation.

sorry i dont know but someone here will, for sure

(at least you can usually taste 7.11 coffee, tho there are a couple of regular coffee outlets that have much better coffee than either Star*ucks or 7.11)

it is ridiculous to pay $5 for tasteless swill, imho

Buy a good coffee maker, a good water filtration system and good, locally roasted coffee. Brew your coffee at home and save yourself a bundle over the next year. Your own coffee is fresher and tastier and you won’t be supporting the numbskulls at Charbucks... er, Starbucks.

My two cents.

I think they backed off of their open carry policy. Short-lived

What are our shared values, I wonder? I don’t feel like we have any.

I feel we are a nation deeply divided.

The last time I felt somewhat unified as a nation was after 9/11. It seemed like we recognized a common enemy, came together, looked out for each other, supported our military/law enforcement/first responders, desired to work together to protect ourselves. . .

I was either wrong, or it was short-lived.

Yup. It’s been Coffee bean for me for the past 4 years. I only went there once to meet up with someone who kept insisting on it.
